Default Supper last night

Didn't get this quite right, but it was close. (actually, it tasted
pretty bad, but only I think because I used too much PB)

1 pkg "Oriental" flavor Ramen noodles, with the flavor packet
1 1/4 cup water
1 pinch brown sugar
10 - 12 dried chilitepins, crushed (or 1/2 tsp hot crushed red pepper)
chopped onion
Smooth peanut butter [I used Jif]

Combine everything except the PB in a small saucepan and simmer until
the noodles are fully cooked and most of the water is gone. Stir in a
big dollop of peanut butter. Serve.

What else do I need to add next time to make this better? Some roasted
sesame oil? Raw bean sprouts? Chopped roasted peanuts? Garlic?

Raw green onions would have been better, but I forgot to buy some. The
partially-cooked yellow onions were OK.

Well, ditch those krummy - albeit tasty - ramen and it's ghastly flavour
packet...you can use regular pasta or any variety of Chinese noodles, dried
or fresh...chicken broth instead of water.

I'd add soy sauce...veg - wise anything goes, including dried Chinese
mushrooms, just toss some in...celery, red bell pepper, carrot, etc....a
tish of coconut milk...

Just fer starters...

Needs garlic and something sour like lime juice. I'd omit the brown sugar,
too.

If you *must* add the brown sugar, then add onions, cider vinegar, and dried
mustard to get a kind of barbecue-sauce flavor, but it's not necessarily
going to be very good.

Lime juice! Thanks. That's what it needed, even more so than the
garlic. I've got a bottle of Chinese black vinegar somewhere, that's
another possibility. Or cheap "industrial" basalmic vinegar. (I didn't
think about adding sour.) Several things to try now...
