CA could use a good cut in population. Maybe that's the plan.

Actually, Californians tried to turn off the faucet a couple decades
ago with prop 187. The liberals almost lost their collective mind.
The feds jumped in and saved both the libs and the illegals by shooting
it down. That unsustainable debt is from giving billions to illegals
and it's because of the feds, not the people of CA.

California can solve all it's fiscal woes, even show a profit, and at the
same time eliminate most of their illegals problem and cut way down on
pollution... all they need do is make their entire Freeway system a Pay As
You Go system, change the moniker from Freeway to Payway... a penny a mile
isn't too much... all they need do is embed sensors in the roadways and make
it a law that every vehical in the state be fitted with a device like NY's
Easy Pass.

Nonsense.

CA'ians pay higher gas taxes than any other state. Adding a penny
ain't gonna do dammit. Gotta stop giving the illegals billions for
free health care, special ed classes, food stamps, etc.

Another unnecessary expense are the corrupt politcal pork projects.
CA has ruined it's once excellent freeway system by uselessly rain
grooving every decent roadway in the state, which has greatly
accelerated their deterioration. Another complete waste was tearing
down thousands of natural tree/shrubs and replacing them with sound
walls, the most hideous invention since the cinder block.

No. Charging money to use CA freeways would only add insult to injury
and the population wouldn't stand for it. The only thing that might
stop the bleeding is quit giving freebies to illegals and start
stringing up corrupt pols.

As for pay roadways, forget it. I've been on MA and NY
through/espressways and you can keep 'em. It's like being in jail
while trapped in a car.

You want sympathy or a medal?

You're not comprehending, there's a big difference in the deterrent value
between taxation and direct payment... people are not impressed with gas tax
anymore than they are with booze/tobacco tax, most never realize they're
paying it let alone how much... but let it show up separately on a credit
card bill and it will have the effect of a direct slap in the face. Drivers
are enured to gas tax, but when they're charged by the mile you can bet your
bippee they will be focused on their odometer same as most folks cut down on
all utility usage when they get their bills... obviously you've not engaged
the service of those Yellow Cabs, anyone who has ever ridden in a metered
taxi keeps one eye on that clock, well the Easy Pass system turns vehicles
into metered cabs, which is far more effective in curtailing unnecessary
motoring than MPG. I'd have thought a great intellectual such as yourself
would have been more offended by how the system tracks a vehicle's movement,
like the log of your phone and PC usage (which is a major crime deterrent)
rather than the dirty lucre. And yes, with the kind of mileage Californians
drive a mere penny a mile can indeed take that fercocktah state out of debt
in short order... providing your muscle headed gov'ner doesn't spend it on
more candy.

That's pretty much what I said. You gotta cut expenses. Providing
more money is just a green light to spend more. Duh.

BTW, he's not my gov and I didn't vote for him when he was.

Well, there goes the LA City Council. For reasons unnecessary for
explanation here, I monitor the LA City Council minutes and the money
they throw out the window for special interests is just insane.

I don't recall what part of CA you are in, but I take the 73 tollway
to work every day. Damned 'spensive, Loosey, but it beats the
nightmare of the 5 and the Dreaded El Toro Y. And I spend plenty of
time "in jail while trapped in a car" en route to and from LA from
Orange County for court appearances. The 5 in LA County looks like it
belongs in a third world country, not the US. H*ll, a big chunk of LA
looks like a third world country, for that matter.

OB: That said, LA has some of the best restaurants in the world - The
Palms has gone downhill, however. Two of my favorites (and polar
opposites) are the Pacific Dining Car and Mel's Diner.

The only thing cheaper than buying a infomercial two-fer is a
California politician.

Fortunately, I no longer live in CA.

At least you have a choice.

CA IS a third world country and I don't miss it one bit, despite being
a lifelong native. I am fortunate in having avoided LA since '75, but
still know about nightmare traffic, having commuted SFBAs worst for
over a decade. Where I live now is the complete antithesis of CA. A
traffic jam here is two cars at a four-way stop. I love it!

Huh...The 73 tollway wasn't finished when I still lived in San Diego, but on
my frequent visits back there I noticed that the completion of that road
*drastically* cut down on traffic at the El Toro Y, to the point where it
was tolerable. I took the 73 tollway every now and then, but didn't notice
any great improvement on time. Any more, though, I try to leave the
Sacramento area at 10 PM so I can zip right through the whole Los Angeles
area around 2 AM. Cuts at least three hours off the driving time. (And I
*always* listen to KNX prior to hitting the L.A. metro area.)

acid/other biological sterilizing agents after AIDS boy/extreme
