I don't know about that. The earliest of mine I could find
is this:

http://groups.google.com/group/sci.b...fb5a2d4e63e5c8

That's pretty old. I did search on an earlier e-mail address
and got no hits, but I can't be certain I was posting to RFC
from that earlier account. I did post to other newsgroups
from that account, and got no hits for them either. I'm not
sure RFC had been created at that time. Heck, when was RFC
created?

How do you do that? I looked but it only went back a year or so and I
think I've been posting longer than that. I used to be able to do that
on Deja News, but I never figured out how to do it on Google.

That's what I did, but it didn't show any years earlier than last year.

Decrepit?

Quite a few of us have been here a long time, but maybe we just aren't
very flashy?

Also, they change the software every few minutes or so. Sometimes I'll
get a lot of hits. A few years later, very few hits. A few years
later, lots of hits. Last one was Hot and Sour Soup. I know that there
have been a ton of recipes posted for it, but last time I googled, there
were just a few. Of course, sometimes I forget the criteria I used.

I had a Rombauer chardonnay for the first time this week... it was

I think it was back in the Jurassic Period or so it sounds when people
say they posted to rfc before there was a commercial internet.

Use Advanced Search. I can't find anything earlier than 96 for me,
but I was posting here before that.

I was at Sattui winery for the reserve tasting ( I ended up buying
their madeira) and I mentioned rombauer to them. Two of the servers
independantly mentioned they loved their chardonnay. I am considering
to try it. Is it the type I like with lots of oak and maloactic acid?

Yeah, here in Oz only the universities were connected initially -- by
virtue of their own network AARNET (Australian Academic Research ...).
Later (around 1990?) some other organisations with a significant
research function were permitted to link into AARNET -- in particular,
some of the States' departments of agriculture which, at that time,
did a lot of biological research. (A damn sight more than most of
them do now in fact!)

My earliest post was also in 1995, but I was posting under a GNN email
address. AOL bought them out, so I switched ISP's, I could not get
accustomed to AOL. I have been posting from my Hal-PC account since 1997

The regulars, from what I remember, was Gloria Puester, Barb, Sheldon,
Mimi, Mary f (Pud), Miche, C.J.Fuller, Myra Shinkman, Nancy, Nancy
Dooley, Curly Sue, Lorraine (Owned by Ferrets), Harry Demidavicius,
Kris, Sheryl Rosen. I am forgetting the names of many wonderful posters
and I apologize for that.

Wow, I can't find any post from myself before late 2001, and that
is sure not right. The earliest I see on rfr is 2004, which is
also very wrong. Google's group searches have been totally FU
ever since they put their LISTS on them, IMO.

I actually started posting here in the mid-90s.

Remember DejaNews? Boy, do I miss them. Part of the reason, is because
I do not adapt to change very well, and I do not like the way Google
does it. I am glad they saved the files from DejaNews, but it is like a
dog chasing a car, they do not know what to do with it after they caught it.

Heh! Well, try to find your early posts. I was most surprised
that the earliest one I could find was so recent. Previously, I
could find earlier ones, even after the transition--although still
not my first posts.

I remember doing some searches to find articles I know
I posted to RFC, and it seemed like they weren't there.
These were not really old articles (less than 10 years).
Google may have a form of Alzheimer's -- it can remember
really old stuff, but it's having trouble with the recent
stuff.

Try this site. It is the link to the old search page.
http://www.users.on.net/~fzabkar/Goo...sAdvSearch.htm

I can find my posts from 1999. I do not remember when I started
posting here. Probably no much earlier than that.

I also just looked for a recipe posted here and couldn't find it
at all. Interestingly, before I added rec.food.cooking as a
parameter, it was coming up with things like chowhound and
egullet!!!!! Didn't things on those sites/lists come up in normal
searches? Why does the group search have to be flooded with these
things now?

Oh my! My heart skipped a little beat when I saw that old
page--but the results are quite odd, claiming I have made about
280 posts and the earliest one was in November 2008. Oh wait! I
just changed to sort by date, and now it claims I have made 2590
posts. Wait again! When I go to my earliest post, and now the
claim is that this was in October 2007, it says I have made 509
posts. This is truly screwed up!!!!

I did a search too, and I guess I'm an old-timer. I found posts from the
90's that were posted by me. I just lurk a lot and when someone requests a
particular recipe, I go into search and post mode!

My earliest Usenet post was in 1989, but my first RFC post was in 1990.
(I was able to find them both using Google Groups.)

How about a suit like Porter Wagoner's (and matching hairdo, of course)?
Would that be flashy enough?
