I don't know, either, but I think it's pretty simple. Somewhere in the
GoogleGroups interface is where you set your name. My best advice, if
you don't know how to do this, is to pick a GoogleGrouper here that you
know, and send them a private Email asking for help.

You wouldn't happen to have a mischevious child or other relative living
with you? Especially one that you just had an argument with? My wife
occasionally finds her settings changed, usually just after an argument
with our oldest son.
