Knudsen is one brand of cran juice that is pretty commonly available...you
should be able to find it around someplace.

I do like the stuff, it's good mixed with seltzer over ice in the
summer...but straight up it *is* bitter.

I'm never far from a glass of seltzer, and I do like to
change it up with cranberry juice cocktail sometimes.
I'd like to try the plain.

Some of it also has dextromethorphan...
That is a hallucinogen.

Pure cranberry juice - along with black cherry juice - is touted as a
preventative for gout, so I went on a cran 'n black cherry juice 'jag' a few
years ago . Don't know if it helped or not, but I developed a taste for
both. A quart of black cherry juice concentrate goes for about 15 or so bux
in the stupormarket if you can find it, somewhat cheaper in health food -
type stores; you dilute it down and it makes around a gallon of juice IIRC.
The concentrate I bought was made outta Montmorecy [sp?] cherries IIRC. A
shot of the cherry (or cran) is also great in smoothies and in vodka...

;-)

In looking at labels, I discovered that most all "mass" brands of cran and
cherry juice consisted primarily of apple juice or grape juice...there was
one brand of canned cherry juice that was 100% cherry juice.

Speaking of "health food" stores, these seem to be something of a vanishing
breed, at least around here in Chicago. In my nabe there were two good
ones, both shut down a few years. This may have had something to do with
the fact that big retailers like Whole Foods, TJ's, and even the regular
grocery chains really started to heavily stock health food - type items.
Frex whole wheat pasta or decent yogurts used to entail a special trip to
the health food store, now every big grocery has this stuff as a matter of
routine.

Probably something like "Dried Plum Nectar".

Not at all bad in a mixed, fruity drink.

I should have reworded that to "So come on Bob, don't hold back, tell us what
you *really* think about cranberry juice!!" ;-)

I actually don't mind it too much. We don't get a lot of it, so the novelty
factor is always there.

Heaven forbid! At least Southern Comfort is drinkable. Jaeger is like

Remember it for the future! Southern Comfort and cranberry juice are
a match made in heaven. Don't buy a big bottle, buy one of those
airlines sized bottles - which is just enough to decide if you want to
spend any more $$ on it. In any case, you can satisfy your curiosity
w/o breaking the bank.

The ad I saw didn't make it look like old fashioned prune juice. Come
to think of it, they called it plum juice.

Good suggestion, thanks. :-)

Right now the scale is moving in the right direction. I had to get
serious about it due to health reasons.

Pain is a good incentive. <g>

Yep, I knew the name but it sounds too fru-fru for what is
a delicious drink so I rarely call it that.

You're not speaking for me. I love cranberry juice - plain or

Is there some evil being about that's making you drink the stuff?

Celestial Seasonings has a couple of cranberry flavored teas. It's

Well, what do I know. I went grocery shopping today and
sure enough, they had small bottles of plain cranberry juice.
Of course I bought one. Very tart, but not as bad as I
expected. I will like a splash in my seltzer.

They had other flavors, too, such as pomegranate, but I
didn't see what the others were as there was a crowd
right there.

Ick! I also discovered my purchase of Ocean Spray's cranberry/pomegranate
was their 100% Juice line... NO SUGAR ADDED!! Talk about a 2 quarts
of painfully pure pucker power! Even cut 5:1 with water, it was
undrinkable. Dumped it down the drain.

nb ...don't like sour

I understand, really, I do. I like that tart taste, but it's not
for everyone. The Ocean Spray stuff, however, might not
have sugar, but it has grape juice in there to sweeten it.
Blech I hate that. I would rather have sugar.

This 100% cranberry juice would really **** you off!

It made for a nice morning juice drink. I don't even need
sugar. I bet it will be great in iced tea in the summer.

o.k., i can't stand it any more. anyone familiar with the bob & ray
'cranberry man' sketch?:

The real stuff or cranberry cocktail? I like cranberries and cranberry
cocktail but I tried the pure cranberry juice and I have to say that it
is a little too much even for my cranberry loving taste buds.
