Yippee! Can I have a tiara please? Its my first ever TFH and I think seeing
as its valentines day, even though I don't celebrate it, the tiara would
look good!

Oh geez... that reminds me of college days.

At the NTID (national technical institute for the deaf) cafeteria, open to
all students, we were seated and eating when a girl walked over and sat
down at a table. Deaf students can, on occasion talk while using ASL. The
poor girl mistakenly managed to announce at the top of her lungs, "I GOT
VD!!!"

The hearing students in the cafeteria seating area went silent.

A half funny, half sad occurrence.

Poor girl!

I must add, the deaf have several distinct advantages.

They don't have sound as a distraction so their eyesight is very acute!
Evidenced by their expertise in foosball! The BUMS!!!

The deaf, using ASL can (depending on eyesight), communicate hundreds of
feet apart.

ASL permits them to communicate faster than hearing people can talk!

Erm... A not terribly romantic dinner at home for me, husband, daughter
and bf, and son.

New York strip steaks marinated in garlic, sea salt, pepper and olive
oil, seared then finished to medium rare in the oven with a pan sauce of
white wine, lemon juice, grainy mustard, mushrooms. Steaks to be topped
with a sprinkle of provel while resting.

Crashed potatoes, steamed mixed veggies, fresh strawberries with choice
of sugar, balsamic vinegar or chocolate sauce for dipping.

Dessert involves movie money to get the kids out of the house.

I don't celebrate Valentine's Day, but I don't think less of
anyone else if they do. It's nice, if you're into it, have a
nice day.

It wouldn't occur to me to call it VD. I mean ... I don't
go around telling people to have a MC! and HNY!
Come on.

No special dinner last night......... I asked her what she wanted before she
went to work, and that's what we had. Baked chicken breasts with roasted
garlic, lemon and butter..... with corn on the cob, fresh peas and julienned
carrots.

Her VD present was an 8GB iPod Nano. (Given 4 weeks ago when her Shuffle
started dying.)

No cards exchanged.

Sitting down after dinner, she remarked "Holy crap!! This is our 15th
Valentines Day!!"

We don't need no shteeenking Valentines Day to show how we feel for each
other.

You feel that Ruth Grealy is an ugly slut and Ruth feels that Peter
Lucas is a brain dead women beater.
And everyone else feels that both of you are miserable welfare
cheaters.

We had roast beef, Yorkshire pussing, gravy, roasted potatoes, carrots
and parsnip. I don't know what dessert was called but it was a layer
of pastry (made with butter with slice apples laid in a single layer,
topped with butter and suagr and baked, then topped with an apricot
glaze. It was delicious.
