Controlling people often have difficulty dealing with problems
objectively and will manipulate the conversation to blame others when
their own mistakes are pointed out.

Controlling people often do not have close friends, and rarely are
friends with others who are more attractive, intelligent, or well-
liked than themselves. They tend to be jealous of popular, successful
people, and will criticize those held in high-regard by others.

Controlling people will rarely compliment others as this would divert
attention from themselves and their desire to be the center of
attention. Compliments, when given, are backhanded and actually point
out some flaw or defect in the other person.

Controlling people often demean or criticize others as a means of
building theirselves up and appearing superior and in control.

A controlling person may try to control the way you dress and speak,
or they may even criticize your opinion.

Controlling people are very manipulative. They will not like it when
you try to stand up for yourself about something that is important to
you.

But......... I've got a busy day ahead of me.

We started off by deciding to have a wine and cheese night, and as the
invitee's usually stay on for a fair while afterwards, thought it would be
the right thing to do and give them a 'real' meal afterwards.

So, at this point in time, I have 3 different curries going.

One is a South African chicken Cape Malay curry, and I have a beef
Vindaloo, and a beef Rogan Josh.


I'm thinking I might just do one more chicken dish...... probably the other
South African number.....Tubagh Tomato Bredie(?)

Have taken a hint from CC (Mama-san), and bought 5 loaves of crusty white
bread :-)

'Bunny Chow' here we come :-)


Then I'm going to let them try the Mini Black Forest Gteaux (REC below).

If they go over well, I'll be making a fresh batch for the 25th.

I picked up a bottle of a Danish Cherry liqueur yesterday,

as well. Supposed to be very nice served with ice, tonic water, and a
splash of gin or vodka.



Mini Black Forest Gteaux


150g dark (70% cocoa) chocolate chopped
3/4cup water (180ml)
150g butter (see note)
1 ¼ cups (275g) firmly packed brown sugar
3 eggs
1 cup (150g) self raising flour
2 tablespoons good quality cocoa powder
½ cup (60g) almond meal
¼ cup (60ml) kirsch or cherry liqueur
½ cup (125ml) thickened cream, whipped
32 cherries approx

Ganache

180g dark chocolate, chopped
½ cup (125ml) thickened cream


1. Preheat oven to 160C (140C fan forced). Grease and line the bases
of a 12 hole muffin pan.

2. Melt the chocolate with water in a small saucepan over a low heat;
cool to room temp.

3. Combine butter, sugar, eggs, sifted flour, cocoa powder, and
almond meal with the cooled chocolate mixture in a large bowl with an
electric mixer; beat on low speed until all ingredients have come
together as a smooth batter.

4. Divide the mixture between among the prepared muffin holes. Bake
for 25mins or until the cakes are cooked when tested. Cool completely in
pans. Take care when removing them as they are quite delicate.
Refrigerating the cakes for an hour or so will help to firm them up.

5. GANACHE: meanwhile, combine the chocolate and cream in a small
saucepan, stir over low heat until melted. Let stand for 15 mins or
until the ganache starts to thicken a little.

6. To assemble, split each cake in half. Drizzle the bases with the
booze, then spread with whipped cream. Reserve 12 perfect cherries;
halve the remaining cherries and remove the seeds. Top the cream with
the halved cherries. Pop the tops of the cakes back in place.

7. Spread top of each cake with ganache, then top with the reserved
cherries.


NOTE: Before you use it in this recipe, the texture of the butter should
be 'en pommade', a French term meaning "like face cream".

3 of us did the Bunny chow thing, the others were 'too genteel'.... so I
shoved a plastic plate at them :-)

After my mate had filled and emptied his bunny chow for the 4th time, he
sat back and I started to clean the table.

I asked him he'd finished, as he'd left the 'shell'. He said yes, so I
told him that I'd wash his 'plate' out and it'd be ready for him next
time :-)

I have to start thinking about baking a 5-6kg leg of ham, for tomorrow
and the day after.

We're having a Christmas Eve party at a friends house, then Christmas
Day, we have to divide ourselves between 3 places!!

CD dinner will be at another friends place, and will be a rather tame
affair as she is in hospital today having a Lumpectomy done.

LOL!! She was the 'party animal' last night!!
