Anyone else get an itchy butt from Cashews?

I wonder if its an enzyme in the cashews or the oil or whatever from
the cashews..

But last weekend we bought some "turtles" candies but instead of
pecans they were cashews. I didn't pay attention to that , and if i
did, wouldn't have bought them because years ago, when I first had
cashews, my "butt" (you know where) got itchy real bad.

So all this week my butt started itching again and I'm wondering what
the heck is going on. In the meantime I'm enjoying the cashew candies
every day.

Then one day I look at the turtles box and see it says Cashews.
Zoinks!

So I've sinced stopped eating and the symptoms have of course gone
away.

Anyone else here with this problem?

Many food allergies make your sphincter itch. For me it's shrimp if I'm
not desensitized to it first. You're allergic to cashews. Drink some
Metamucil and wipe your ass and it won't itch.

It's probably the cashew toxin, urushiol, not the oil content.
In which case, you probably also react to mangos.

Quoting from:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cashew

The urushiol must be removed from the dark green nut shells
before the seed inside is processed for consumption; this is
done by shelling the nuts, a somewhat hazardous process, and
exceedingly painful skin rashes (similar to poison-ivy rashes)
among processing workers are common. In India urushiol is
traditionally used to control tamed elephants by their mahouts
(riders or keepers). The so-called "raw cashews" available in
health food shops have been cooked but not roasted or browned.

Any kind of nut does that to me, and walnuts and pecans are the worst.
You know type of blisters you get on the roof of your mouth when you
burn it. I get those from walnuts, and I suspect at the other end too. :-(

That's only for quick and drastic circumstances involving something
higher up in the GI tract. It really does nothing for Sphincter
Itch.

Speaking of which, I ate shrimp last night and my Andy is itching.
Somebody have a pacifier?

I'm severely allergic to all kinds of "tree nuts," especially
hazelnuts, but not to cashews (bush nuts) or almonds (related to
cherries). Go figure.

Eureka! I just found out last month or so that I'm allergic to Mangos
(some may remember that thread).

So Mangos bother me at one end (mouth) and cashews the other.

Thanks for that info.

Ouch. I have no problems with any other nut, walnuts, pecans,
pistachios.

Mag citrate allows for quick elimination of "mistakes". ;-)

I generally use it for pizza.

Yeah, it's a real PITA, in more ways than one. When I go to a restaurant
or bakery I have to make sure there are no nuts in the things I want.
It rules out a lot of the things I like, such as baklava, carrot cake
and many others.

The OP needs to put the nuts in his mouth, instead of stuffing them in his
anus.

No Baklava! Now I really feel your pain, love that treat. But isn't
there another treat like it just without the walnuts?

In that case, you probably are also sensitive
to pink and green peppercorns from the ornamental
