This is a new product, so I just had to try it.
It consists of a tray of about a pound of small clams (Manila clams, I think) which are fully cooked and frozen in a garlic butter sauce. Most of Trader Joe's branded foods are quite good. This one isn't. The clams have lots of sand in them. The sauce is far too salty. I expected this wouldn't be as good as fresh steamed live clams, nor would the garlic butter sauce be as good as my sauce (which is mostly butter -- TJ's had very little butter). But I could easy imagine a precooked frozen product could be a lot better than this product is. |
