While I would love to go to China for a cup of tea, I don't think I'll be
going there anytime soon.
If your ever in the area .... http://www.algebrateahouse.net/ has an amazing
cup of tea and some VERY cool art.
btw, I'm not associated w/ them in any way :) I just love going there.

What is up with that stuff??? They need to give it a name that
is not 'iced tea', but something else. Gack.

I must agree with you there. I don't drink a lot of iced tea, but
when I do make it I use Bigelow Raspberry. 10-12 bags in a gallon jug
out in the sun. Even Lipton bags are pretty nasty.

Even what's in most teabags is mainly tea dust.

Have you tried Luzianne brand. It's specifically for iced tea. Very
popular in the South. I just made up a gallon using the big one-quart
sized bags.

I drink Luzianne regularly. I tend to buy Luzianne, Tetley, PGTips and
even Lipton at odd times for variety. I find after a few months of one
brand or flavor that I welcome a change.
And oh yeah.. I *know* southern *sweet-tea*....I'm in Georgia!

I use loose tea. www.teatrader.com or www.specialteas.com or a bunch of
others that have very good quality.

Tea dust, ha ha, lame 'commercial' tea tends to seem like it tastes
dry, and or kinda acrid.

baghhhght

Not good in summer days, or anytime for that matter.

I used to get tea from Vietnamese stores, that was good. It wasn't
cheap but, it wasn't even expensive either.

I don't like coffee much but, ya know, instant coffee is crap. Apply
instant coffee rules to tea quality.

Thats not too bad.

I like some mint flavor in tea.

We have the local http://www.celestialseasonings.com/ here

Still not my favorite.

I think if we look around, that there are great teas from across the
world, that we don't often see in America.

Japanese tea with toasted rice kernals. "Red Rose" brand from Canada.
ANY brand from Canada.

Red Rose is good. I also like PG tips for iced tea from the UK but found
in my local stores. It's nice and robust and not bitter at all. My
husband drinks more tea than I do, because he drinks a lot at work. But
he also travels to the UK a few times a year so we usually are very well
stocked in exotic single estate teas like Margaret's Hope 1st flush. I
am very fond of Ceylon as well as Darjeeling teas.

I often order teas from McNulty's in the West Village in NYC. Their
products are always very fresh.

Yes indeed. All those flavoured 'ice tea' mixes. All those flavoured
bottled 'teas'. True 'white' tea is not all that common and consequently
expensive. Yet in the shops I see bottled 'white' tea for more money
than it's worth but still quite cheap.

I'll second the Red Rose from Canada. It's the only tea I put milk into.

Growing up in Metro NYC, I became accustomed to Swee-Touch-Nee tea. It's
orange pekoe and cut black pekoe teas. I ordered some on the Internet.

A friend from England just visited, and he promised to bring us some
"real" tea. It is called Ty-Phoo Tea and it tastes pretty good, but to
be honest, I can not tell the difference between Typhoo and Tetley. I
must not be a tea connoisseur.

BTW, we served Typhoo tea this weekend and everyone enjoyed it.

Does the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf still sell good quality
tea? Or has it gone down since they became a megachain?

I used to get their "Silver Tip Oolong" and it is still
about the best tea I can remember. That one they no longer
have.
