It tasted fine, but I can't help thinking that this PB is not as good for you as normal PB. (Wellll, dark chocolate does contain antioxidants, but there are other additives.) That was washed down by cafe au lait. -- Jean B. |

When I'm sufficiently awake I'll have standard breakfast fa a couple of slices of whole grain toast with butter, 2 eggs (probably scrambled). This time instead of a couple of slices of bacon I've got some fresh pork sausage links. I'll cook those up and scramble the eggs in a bit of the pork fat. Tall glass of fat free milk just because I love the stuff :) Jill |

I've had benecol spread (not the lite version, though) at Mom's and it's not bad as far as butter subs go. I've gotten so used to skim milk even 2% tastes heavy to me. But it has to be ICE COLD! This was really before the entire "whole wheat" thing had really caught on in grocery stores outside of California. And there I sat in Tennessee. I was reading the ingredients on the package one day and it said, "wood chips". I'm not making this up. Wood chips in my hamburger buns?! I'm sure they've changed that, but I never could figure it out. I just stopped buying that brand. Here's what I bought the Orowheat whole wheat buns for, and I quote most of a post from 2002 (so sorry, Peter Lucas, the Post-Lengthmaster!) Turkey Burgers "Indienne" 16 oz. lean ground turkey 2 green onions, minced 1-2 tsp. Tabasco pepper sauce (to taste) 2 tsp. soy sauce 1/4 tsp. ground ginger 1 tsp. sesame oil 4 wholewheat buns, lightly toasted In mixing bowl, combine turkey, minced green onion, soy, ginger, Tabasco and sesame oil. Form mixture into 4 thick patties (about 3/4 inch thick; they will shrink). Oven-broil or grill 5-6 inches from heat about 5 minutes on each side, pressing lightly when turning. Serve on toasted wheat buns with your choice of toppings. Serves 4 I'm not exactly sure what "Indienne" means. It came from Cooking Light Magazine, I remember that. But what I read on the label of the Orowheat hamburger buns, which were the only ones I could find at the time, made me shudder. Jill |

Didn't it become Branola (a favorite bread for years)? Then Branola disappeared. Maybe it's Arnold now but Arnold is squishy compared to what Branola was. Wood chips? For flavor or fiber? Hmmm... ;) Andy |

I find fat-free milk most palatable I can't ever remember liking plain milk. It always felt like phlegm sliding down my throat. I have not had a glass of milk in more than 30 years, but I use a bit of whole milk on my cereal. |

That was also when they were screaming ground turkey was "low fat". But I it was a sign of the times, you know? Who knew they were grinding all that fat into the "low fat" concoction? Pays to read labels. I briefly tried 'Cooking Light' magazine again about five years ago but quickly found out they were ALL about desserts. Excuse me, low-cal... desserts. "Eat all You want!" Um, no. There was no sensible cooking advice. I did get a few great tried and true recipes from that magazine... but that was back around 1986. Jill |

Blinky, Funny you should mention it, #1 Bud in California always stops off at Del Taco for a breakfast burrito on the way to work! Twice cursed!!! I gag at the thought. Del Taco almost ruined my affection for Mexican food. There was no breakfast burrito at Gag-in-the-Bag when I lived there but I loved their ultimate cheeseburger! Let me state for the record, In my lifetime, I HAVE evolved! Sharks just adapt! They'll eat anything. :D Best, Andy |

I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to a Del Taco. Same for Taco Bell. I'm not averse to FF, but those are just always under my radar; when I want Mexican, I don't FF -- even though I sure do when I feel like a burger. > Let me state for the record, In my lifetime, I HAVE evolved! Every day it's coffee and orange juice. After that it could be bacon, eggs and toast... just toast (sometimes with marmalade)... cold cereal with 1% milk.... hot oatmeal (apple cinnamon is best).... bagel cut in half with cream cheese and raisins... or a bagel with a slice of American Cheddar cheese on top and heated in the microwave... for pancakes, a friend of ours gave us a bag of Knott's Berry Farm Buttermilk Pancake mix to try and it makes the best pancakes (in my opinion). A little butter and pure maple syrup, a couple of sausage links and I'm all set until dinner time. ;-) Ron |
