The elbow is the strongest point on your body. If you are close enough to
use it, do!


2. Learned this from a tourist guide in New Orleans...

If a robber asks for your wallet and/or purse, DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM.

Toss it away from you.... chances are that he is more interested in your
wallet and/or purse than you, and he will go for the wallet/purse.

RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!


3. If you are ever thrown into the trunk of a car, kick out the back tail
lights and stick your arm out the hole and start waving like crazy.

The driver won't see you, but everybody else will.

This has saved lives.



4. Women have a tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating,
working, etc., and just sit (doing their cheque book, or making a list,
etc....DON'T DO THIS!) The predator will be watching you, and this is the
perfect opportunity for him to get in on the passenger side, put a gun to
your head, and tell you where to go.

AS SOON AS YOU GET INTO YOUR CAR , LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE.

If someone is in the car with a gun to your head DO NOT DRIVE OFF, repeat:
DO NOT DRIVE OFF!

Instead gun the engine and speed into anything, wrecking the car. Your Air
Bag will save you.

If the person is in the back seat they will get the worst of it .

As soon as the car crashes bail out and run. It is better than having them
find your body in a remote location.


5 . A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking
garage:

A.) Be awa look around you, look into your car, at the passenger side
floor , and in the back seat.

B.) If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger
door.

Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans
while the women are attempting to get into their cars.

C.) Look at the car parked on the driver's side of your vehicle, and the
passenger side.. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car,
you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman
to walk you back out.

IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. (And better paranoid than dead.)


6. ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible
places to be alone and the perfect crime spot.

This is especially true at NIGHT!)


7. If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control, ALWAYS RUN!
...The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times; And even
then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ.

RUN, Preferably in a zig -zag pattern!


8. As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP...It may get you
raped, or killed.

Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good-looking, well educated man, who
ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women.

He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked 'for help' into his
vehicle or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.


9. Another Safety Point:

Someone just told me that her friend heard a crying baby on her porch the
night before last, and she called the police because it was late and she
thought it was weird. The police told her ...'Whatever you do, DO NOT open
the door.'

The lady then said that it sounded like the baby had crawled near a window,
and she was worried that it would crawl to the street and get run over.

The policeman said, 'We already have a unit on the way, whatever you do, DO
NOT open the door.'

He told her that they think a serial killer has a baby's cry recorded and
uses it to coax women out of their homes thinking that someone dropped off a
baby He said they have not verified it, but have had several calls by women
saying that they hear baby's cries outside their doors when they're home
alone at night.

Please pass this on and DO NOT open the door for a crying baby ----

This e-mail should probably be taken seriously because the Crying Baby
theory was mentioned on America 's Most Wanted this past Saturday when they
profiled the serial killer in Louisiana

Most cars these days have a safety latch on the inside of the trunk so you
can't be locked in. Doesn't help if you can't reach it or if the car is an
older model.

We do?! That's funny, the first thing I do when I get in my car is lock the
door, start the engine, put on my seat belt and drive off. I've never sat

something to be cautious about. Never fails I'll come out of a store and
find myself hemmed in by one or the other, though.

It sounds pretty good advice to me, the rest of it then, don't you think
so?.....

That just happened to me a week ago! I thought, who has a crying
baby?? Then I found out that noise was my cat, who I didn't know
was outside for her morning survey of the back yard, telling some

The suspicious thing regarding debunking the "crying baby" thing is if the
woman *really* thought there was a baby outside she'd probably have just
opened the door and looked. Don't you think? Or would she call the police
first and have to have someone tell her repeatedly not to open the door?
Doesn't make sense to me.

To further debunk, as Snopes pointed out, if that ruse was used by a serial
killer to lure women outside it would have been blasted all over the news.
That's not the kind of detail the cops would keep from the public.

Don't walk out of a store with your wallet in your hand, fumbling to get it
into your purse (if you carry a purse). If you do that, you aren't going to
be paying attention to who is around you. Put your money and your wallet
away before you leave the store.

If you are a man (women aren't the only people who are robbed/mugged) don't
carry your wallet in your back pants pocket. In a crowd situation the old
bump and lift the wallet routine is a pickpockets' dream. If it won't
detract from fashion (heh), consider a wallet with a chain that links to
your belt. I'm sure you can find a fine gold chain, but that would only
attract more attention LOL

Always have your keys in your hand when exiting an establishment to walk to
your car, with the car key being the one you're holding onto so you don't
have to fumble for it.

When you arrive home, make sure it's the house key you're holding.

If there are tall bushes or shrubs around your doorway, consider cutting
them back or having them removed.

If your entry-way is dark, invest in an outside floodlight. Motion sensor
lights are fairly cheap. If you aren't surrounded by trees you can get
solar-powered versions.

I've seen them walking down the highway hunting a water hole during
droughts here. What is frightening is the number of people who fish and
crab alongside the highway in the bar ditches along the marsh. The truly
frightening part is that their small children are playing in the water
while gator eyes are watching their every move. I've seen gators take
small pets from the roadside and be so quick about it there is nothing
you can do.

OB: Food, gator meat is right tasty, I like both fried gator and baked

Actually a well trained dog is just as effective. When I was a kid we
had this German Shepherd female.

She had been through police dog training but for some reason wouldn't
take to any of the handlers well enough to go out into the field.

We found out this dog wanted to be part of a family. I got her at 8
months old, and this dog was at my side everywhere I went.

God help you if you raised a hand to me. She was very protective of me.

She'd hide in the bushes at the front of the house and when someone she
didn't know came up the walkway out she'd come, barking her head off. If

She loved hunting rabbit too.

Someone poisoned her, or she got into something she shouldn't have.

I'm glad she survived that long. A dog rushing up in a
threatening manner is likely to be reported to the animal
control people or be the recipient of pepper spray if it gets
within 5 feet.

Hi, Jill...You're right...sorry..It was nearing midnight here in Oz when I
wrote that last night...I admit, I didn't see the notes in between mine,
with your comments, Jill...I am not as observant at that time of night and
am not used to reading comments placed in a message like that, even though
some others do in a couple of senior groups I am in....I will have to be
more observant :-)

I haven't yet read the other comments as yet, as I have to go off and take
my little granddaughter to Kindergarten school...Will read the others when I
return later this morning..... Hope no one else have jumped on me when I
look at them later this morning.....<G>
