Private property the dog can do what it pleases. And let me tell you
something about German Shepherds, they're fairly determined dogs.

She had a stealth mode too. That was something to see.

That's the kind of person I'd hope a dog of mine would take a large
chunk out of.

Dependent upon municipal ordinances where you and the dog live. Here,
they had better be on a leash if they're outside a fence or you will be
fined. In one case the dog was seized by the animal control people for
attacking people on the street. Turns out the owner had trained it to do
that and released it at night so he and his drinking buddies could get a
good laugh.

the owner got a sizable fine and thirty days in the pokey. The dog got
rehabilitated and adopted by someone with some common sense.

Good. Man, people *shoot* dogs these days. You never, ever allow an animal
out unrestrained--or unsupervised, for that matter.

sorry to hear about your Shepherd

mine has already chased off a few would-be backyard fence jumpers who
thought jumping into peoples' property at 3am would be fun

Absolutely. Unrestrained dogs cost the owners a lot of money and often the
dog its life. Different matter if someone trespasses on fenced property and
the dog is within the confines of the fence, of course. But otherwise, you've
got a "problem dog" on your hands. And they'll take said dog away if it
bites or mauls someone. "Beware of Dog" signs don't mean a thing if the dog
isn't under control of the owner.

No, Peter jumped on ME. But that's the way usenet threads go, Barry. It's
common for people to intersperse replies amongst relevant parts of a post
(or thread). You're forgiven (heh), as if you needed my forgiveness.

Thanks for the post and your reply. I added a few cautions, which you may
catch here and may or may not agree with. It does pay to be careful.

Ever heard of the ohno bird? It's a shore bird that lives along the coast
of southern California. What's unique about it is that it has very short
legs for the size of its body -- and very large testicles. In fact its
testicles are larger than its legs are long. That's how it got its name
-- from its call when it's coming in for a landing: "Oh no! Oh no! Oh
no! ... "

That was the thing, she wouldn't leave the property. It was quite
something, that dog knew that where grass ended and curb begun she was
not to go past it unless accompanied by me.

Even cops shoot dogs. I recall a video on youtube where they raided the
wrong house and shot the guys dog.

Then there was another video where the cops shot their own police dog.

That's the thing, this dog had police training, how to hold but not
bite. It was quite something to see.

We run into that problem with mailing list members. Seems there are
still fair-sized chunks of the world, and even the US where large
downloads are problematic.

Wouldn't that depend on how the car or truck are parked?.... If the truck
was parked with front to curb and the car was parked with it's rear to
curb.. So then, the drivers of both the truck and the car would be alongside
each other... drivers doors that is...

On 24 hour call. Had come back from a job around midnight, and it takes
awhile for the body to calm back down.

It was shortly after the 'discussion' with MacQueen I decided that she
wasn't worth the effort and hit the sack around 4.30am, and was up again
by 8am for another job.

I'm hoping that tonight will yeild more time for sleep, but I'm not
holding my breath.

Well, I hope the cops bust your ass good for animal cruelty. Most normal
people put the damn cat *inside* the car.

I'm not a cat lover by any means, but I would never resort to such
cruelty.
