I accidentally logged out of chat (new software, remember <g>) just now
(mid-afternoon Saturday), and when I came back everybody was gone. I
hope nothing I said was taken badly; it sure wasn't meant that way.

Doubtful. Chat is like pidgeons in the park. Throw down some crumbs of gossip
and all crowd around. Run out and they scatter. They'll be back.

Sure. Started it in 1997. But those two couldn't type fast enough as I
accidentally walked off the end of the pier just a couple minutes earlier.

Thanks for confirming. I'd mentioned something about her mom's recovery
from loss, and I was afraid it was taken in a way I didn't intend it.
Normal chat, I wouldn't have been concerned; that topic, I wanted to be
sure.

Not to worry, Blinky! Mom is doing pretty well, and she'd already started
going through his clothes to donate. It's not a touchy subject; in fact I'm
the one who mentioned the Franciscans and their thrift shop, remember? We
have our moments, but really - Mom isn't falling apart, none of us are
falling apart. Dad had a blessed (well, except the part about getting
shot!) long life.

And, of course, doesn't know what a sig is.

Excuse me, Blinkie, but can you share your secret with me? How do you
make it possible for yourself to "kill all posts from Google Groups"
and yet to be able to read all my posts? Ain't I posting from Google
Groups, genius? Please reply even if you never see this message.

I am Ostap Bender. I am a foodie and am in the process of starting up
my own food business. I have permissions to speak my mind at
rec.food.cooking from Michael Lomonaco, Heston Blumenthal and Ferran
Adrià.

Who are *you* and which company do you test taste for? Purina or Alpo?

First of all, your knowledge of the term "sig" must make your mom
really proud. Did you attend the summer institute for the gifted?

Second, I know many different meanings of this term. I even attended a
special interest group meeting on this fertile topic.

For example, like everybody else at rec.food.cooking, I know that a
sig is a small salmon. I am sure you do too.

Instead of showing off to the readers of rec.food.cooking your
impressive ability to abbreviate the words "signature", "signal" and
"signor" to their first 3 letters, would you guys care to share any
of your sig recipes with us?

Come back with a new attitude and a new pen name, because you're in
quite a few kill files - including mine.

buh-bye

Signature Dish of ...
Lutefisk Preparation
1 Lutefisk
5 sticks firewood
1 quart gasoline
750ml Finlandia, poured over ice

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lutefisk
Lutefisk (lutfisk) is a traditional dish of the Nordic countries made
from stockfish (air-dried whitefish) and soda lye (lut). Its name
literally means "lye fish", owing to the fact that it is made with
caustic soda or potash lye.

Yummee!

OK, you need 750ml Finlandia to be able to digest the Wiki article on
Lutefisk. But wouldn't 5 sticks of firewood give you too much fibre
and gas? And speaking of gas....
