Default How do you like your honey?- Honey Bars recipe

Quick, easy, minimal clean-up, adaptable to any sort of sweet syrup
including honey, molasses, maple syrup, and (though I've never tried it)
probably sorghum and Karo. The flavor of the honey comes through pretty
well. I prefer the darker honeys as opposed to the clover blossom ones.

Heat until melted and syrupy in a sauce pan:

1 1/2 cup honey
3 Tablespoons butter.

Measure and then put straight into a sifter and sift into the sauce pan:

2 cups whole wheat flour (or use oat flour, or any light flavorless flour)
1 Tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons cinnamon
another teaspoon mixed spices like cardamon, cloves, nutmeg, mace,
allspice, corander, grated lemon or orange peel).

Add and stir in:

1/2 cup mixed nuts
1/2 cup dried fruit like raisins, apricots
(All the spices, nuts, dried fruits, are optional or the amounts variable.)

Add another 1 1/2 cup flour until all is thick and sticky.

Pat into greased pans to about half an inch thick (or thicker, or
thinner). Bake at 350 degrees. Don't overbake.
