I missed a few weeks' posts of his, but they came back yesterday. I hadn't
changed my filterings or anything; they just stopped; then started back
again. I looked to see if I had blocked him (by mistake, of course ;-)) but
I hadn't.

'tis a puzzlement.

Hey Wayne, since I started filtering gmail.com (I know, I'm
using it myself, but so many spammers do too), I'm missing your
posts. Could you possibly change your headers a bit? I know, someone
will try to chew my ass about asking you to change anything, but I
miss you...

Indeed -- it may just be my server, but I was thinking it's because
he's actually got gmail.com in his from header, even though it's a bit
munged. I'll do some filter testing, tomorrow...

I don't know if you'll see this one, but if you're filtering gmail that may
be the problem. Unless I leave my gmail address out altogether and change
it to something else, I'm not sure what would work.

Let me know if you see this one.

I'm sorry, Jani. I'm using Google Groups today from work, but I'll
look into it tonight. I'm not exactly sure what to change. I see all
of your posts just fine.

Hope I can work it out...

Best,
Wayne

You might check your newsreader and see if it has watch filters and
priorities. That way you can set a watch with a higher priority for
the gmail people you want to see and ignore the rest.

If I'm not mistaken he munged his addy to "_gmail" and that tosses him
to my garbage pail. Om munged hers to "g_mail" and her posts, like yours
(g33mail), escape my gmail filter. Sf gets through too. But I notice her
headers read simply "From: sf" and gmail doesn't appear there though it
shows up in the "Reply-To" line. My filter works on the "From" line
("Kill if From contains gmail"). I don't know why sf doesn't show her
gmail address, but I'm glad she doesn't cause I'd hate to kill her
posts (especially if she's going to whine about it).

My kill filter is picking up an alarming number of posts since I killed
gmail. Some days it catches almost 10% of rfc posts. Some of these are
the ones I don't want to see. But I'm sure some, like Wayne's, are posts
I'd like to be able to read.

I use MT-NewsWatcher. It has "kill" filters, "highlight" filters, and
"keep" filters. I wonder what would happen if I killed gmail, but set up
a filter to highlight or keep Wayne's. Maybe that would do the trick? Or
perhaps my newsreader would suffer a psychotic break?

Regards,
Dave W.

Jani, it would seem that you're not the only one having trouble with
filtering gmail accounts.

I have totally changed my headers to reflect a bogus address (not at
gmail). Instructions are in my sig on how to reply directly to me through
e-mail. Hope this helps!

Cheers!
