And for only $129.99 PLUS you have to buy the disposable "grill pouches".
What a bargain! LOL

Jill,

C'mon, my favorite southern belle, you don't have to mince words with me.
It's $130.

My cool new Whirley Pop popcorn maker. Glowing reviews, great claims
about its long term reliability and it's made by a company that swears
it's going to last for decades. I bought one, used it about 5 times
and the ****er broke. I'm only out 25 bucks or so, but I will be
slightly grumpy about this for about the next six months.

I've resisted on it, thinking this would happen. I saw one at TM Max
really, really cheap. They 'almost' had me.
But not quite.

My Chefmate hotpot. That's Target's in-house brand for
made-in-China cheap stuff. The quality of products under
this brand is quite variable. The first time I boiled water
in the hotpot, it emitted a strong plastic smell.

Okay, that's not unusual. Many quality appliances from
reputable manufacturers have to run a few times to season
them to drive out all the new smells. So, I dumped the
water and refilled it full. Then I set it to boil away
for a while. I was going to top off the water as needed.

But the aluminum-covered heating element turned
completely brownish-black before I had boiled away
even half of the water. I don't know the chemistry
involved, but this immediately turned me off to using
this device for anything involving food or drink.

It was only $15 or $20, so even if I could have gotten
a refund from Target, it would not have paid for the
value of my time to return it.

That was my first thought. Contact the manufacturer or retailer to find out
about a return of the item.

I think I'll stick with my trusty Revere Ware pot and lid and just shake it
over the burner. Never fails to make good popcorn

I already enlisted National Serv-All for a permanent resolution of the
problem. I should have did it your way, but I was busy being PO'd
about the whole thing.

I'd be PO'd, too! It's entirely possible you just got a lemon and would be
happy with a replacement. But you know the old saying, "Fool me once, shame
on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Hopefully if they just offer a
replacement you won't feel like you've been fooled twice

Best thing is the pouches you need to buy. Can't believe the price is
$130. It should be like razors, give it to you free or at a cheap price
and make you keep coming back for blades.
