How is it that everytime Bobby Flay cooks on Iron Chef he wins???
Most times the other chef is streets ahead but Bobby always wins.

Network, starting in October, to pick a new Iron Chef. Michael
Ruhlman is a judge of this competition. And they have some good chefs
competing for this. I think this will be a great competition.

is infectious so he grew on me. And I admire his mission to improve

Thank you, YES - Jamie Oliver! I don't understand either what was
sexually appealing about him, but to each her own. Oh, WAIT! I get
it.... he's guy that cooks.

I don't know if you noticed, but I have. The tables have turned! Now
guy cooks, girls don't. Women of my generation put so much effort
into making their sons equal partners, they apparently forgot
cooking/cleaning wasn't an xx gene.

In any case, at least Jamie is a good cook - even though I can't stand
to hear him talk.

kept her busy. He normally has a great sous-chef, and I don't recall if she
was there on that show or not -- Anne ...

Nah, Batali's the one who almost always wins -- though even his
winning rate is way below Sakai and some of the other original Iron
Chefs.

Flay loses often enough -- and his wins, interestingly, are often
paper-thin.

No, it wasn't fixed. It was Ray and DeLaurentis assisting Batali and
Flay respectively. It was Batali who won that battle -- and Flay was
clearly unhappy to be competing against him.

I agree. RR was way more hands-on than DeLaurentis was on that
episode. DeLaurentis was a lost, flustered prima-donna.

No, it wasn't fixed. It was Ray and DeLaurentis assisting Batali and
Flay respectively. It was Batali who won that battle -- and Flay was
clearly unhappy to be competing against him.


Flay is always unhappy to be competing. I get the feeling in his mind befoe
the contest even starts, he's thinking why don't they just make me the
winner now and forget all the formality? It's why he is so loved.

tack on the same recording of her saying TODAY AT 10!!
It's louder than the rest of the commercial and it's at her hoarsest.

I think the Throwdown show was a means of putting him in the public's face
as a 'likable' television personality and not the snot he appears on his
other shows. On this he does end up on the losing side of a contest it is
all for local publicity, etc. so he, when they return to the network, is in
reality the winner.

never thought he was much to look at, although some of his dishes had
potential. My main concern was the tongue thrust lisp he had, I was always
wondering who would eat the food after he spit on it....sorta like putting a
chef's toque on Daffy Duck.

I remember well him and Jaquie Malouf, She had quite a touch when it came
to clipping his wings. You could tell he was getting really steamy under
the collar and she would have a wicked grin on her face. Wonder what ever

Bobby Flay's wife on a cooking show asked Bobby how come he used both baking
powder and baking soda in his biscuits; he said, (I paraphrasing) because
they act different; she said, (I'm paraphrasing) All right! I think his
wife being on the show the time I saw it was silly. I guess she's a star in
her own right, but I never have heard of her.

I don't react to Bobby the way some people do, I think he's OK, and I like
the throwdowns; I'll watch all of the Iron Chef America's that he's in.

I think Flay likes to give hints about things, like baking powder vs baking

She made a cranberry curd. She spent most of the show stirring it. The
judges liked it. Mario and Anne did pretty much everything else.

Yes, she was there. Among other things, she made a pasta dough for one of
Mario's dishes and she made some kind of pastry to hold Rachael's curd.
