Beets taste like dirt. If the dirt tastes good, the beets that are
grown in it will too.

(Beets can taste bad, primarily because of the dirt...)

Tasting like dirt is not necessarily bad. Oysters taste like the sea..

I won't touch green pea soup and would likely starve to death if it was
all that was available. Split pea soup is fine. Harvard beets are my
favorite.
