Default G-mail laughs (Spam recipes)

Every time I go to check my Spam folder in G-mail and clear it out,
there are related websites to Spam advertised on the page. It always
makes me laugh. Most of them are spam recipes.

Here is the most recent one.
To me, this sounds absolutely vile! Who are they trying to kid? <Gag!!!>

Title: FRENCH FRY SPAM CASSEROLE
Categories: Main dish
Yield: 8 servings

1 pk Frozen french fry potatoes,
-thawed (20 oz)
2 c Shredded Cheddar cheese
2 c Sour cream
1 cn Condensed cream of chicken
-soup (10 3/4 oz)
1 cn SPAM Luncheon Meat, cubed
-(12 oz)
1/2 c Chopped red bell pepper
1/2 c Chopped green onion
1/2 c Finely crushed corn flakes

Heat oven to 350'F. In large bowl, combine potatoes, cheese, sour
cream, and soup. Stir in SPAM, bell pepper, and green onion. Spoon
into 13x9Åç baking dish. Sprinkle with crushed flakes. Bake 30-40
minutes or until thoroughly heated.

What's sad is that other than the SPAM Luncheon Meat, there are quite
a few folks on here who would consider the above a perfectly
reasonable recipe.

Evidently none of you have spent any time in Hawaii. This is a
typical Hawaiin recipe for the use of Spam (the food).

By the way, you can get rid of the Atom Feeds by going to the Settings
in your email, choose web clips and turn it off.

Atom Feeds? What's an atom feed and why would you want to turn it
off?

I found it in the settings.
It cuts back on G-mail spam. :-)

Atom Feeds are those news items you get in the upper left part of your
gmail page. It's where the recipes about Spam as a lunch meat appear
every time you go into your SPAM or junk mail account. On other pages
it will pick out items within the email and show related web sites.

You can get rid of the Atom Feeds by going to the Settings:Web Clips
and turning of the clips. On the negaive side if you create your own
web clips you loose that ability also.

Interesting. It cuts down on spam in your inbox? I rarely get spam
in my inbox. What are you doing I don't do? Wait! I don't really
*want* to know.

Even more interesting. I didn't remember anything like that, so I
fired up gmail and I don't have it.... no sponsored links, no adwords,
nothing - yet webclips is turned on. I have all sorts of things
listed under it, so I believe you. Maybe Firefox has figured out how
to make that stuff disappear. Ignorance has been bliss for me.

In any case, I'm still confused about equating web clips with spam.
Does turning it off eliminate *real* spam in your mailbox? I've been
very fortunate. I don't get much spam at all in my gmail accounts.

I made the mistake of originally posting here without spam-proofing my

My address isn't spam proofed, Om. Really! Of course, it's a
dedicated address so I wouldn't care anyway.

It's really not that bad.
G-mails spam filters are excellent but I still have to check the spam
folder for the occasional legit message that gets snagged.

I still use my regular mac mail too thru Century and century has it's
own server filters that gets most of it. My own filters do about the
same as yours. :-)

I can always tell when Century is about to crash. I get flooded with a
lot more spam that my own filters kill.
