At the local supermarket, in the fish case, I saw Alaskan crab legs for
$8.99 per pound and Red Alaskan crab legs for $11.99 per pound. What's
this?

Is there a visible difference between King crab and Snow crab legs? --
because both legs looked the same to me. I would have hung around to ask,
but the butchers were busy with a bunch of people and I was in a hurry.

There is a visible difference. King crab legs are much larger and sort of
"spiney" looking. Snow crab legs are smooth. Maybe you can call the store;
things may have slowed down now.

Snow crab legs that I've ever seen are maybe 8 inches long
in total, while king crab, maybe each segment is 8 inches long.
I don't think I'm exaggerating by much.

There is, I guess, not that I could help you with it off hand. I have seen
Red King Crab for sale as Red Alaskan before, so that would be my guess on
the more expensive one, they are always pre-cooked and frozen shipped as far
as I know. The cheaper one might be snow crab? no idea. The prices for
both could vary by season, catch and location, so your guess is as good as
mine.

Right, since I've seen him on Dirty Jobs and Deadliest Catch I've
noticed that he had bit parts on some made for TV movies. Has a
distinctive face that one. A good voice and a bit of acting experience
will get you a narrator job pretty often I reckon. At any rate he does a
good job on both.

Snow crab are a different species, and generally much smaller. The TV
show "Deadliest Catch" features Alaskan fishermen, after king crab in
the fall and opelia (snow) crab in the winter.
