Default Splenda

I have a new ice-cream maker, the receipt calls for 1 cup of water, on
the stove and dissolve 1 cup of sugar.
If I use Splenda do I also have to heat the water?
Brian.

When you went to www.splenda.com, and looked in their recipe section for
similar uses of the product, what did you find? In other words, in other
recipes which involved mixing the product into other ingredients, what
methods were suggested?

No.

Keep in mind tho' it might affect the texture.

If your recipe contains salt, you might want to reduce the amount. I've
found that using Splenda decreases the need for salt in unbaked stuff.

Not as long as it will dissolve. Don't expect very good ice cream with it
though. Texture won't be the same, nor will the flavor.

Come to think of it, if the ice cream has fruit in it, the color of the
fruit may fade quickly, and the ice cream may not keep as long. These are
both true of jam made with Splenda.

You probably won't have to heat the water, but your ice cream will freeze
up to do a good imitation of a brick. I add egg white or alcohol to soften
the texture.
