Trader Joes... Thanks for the Fish!
When to pick up cod filets for fish and chips but I couldn't find any. I
walked up to the customer service counter and asked if they had any, saying I wanted them to make fish and chips. Well I got instant attention from one of the managers who looked up at me and smiled and asked in an English accent "You make fish and chips?" I said I'm going to try. He came out and walked me to the frozen fish bins and began telling me of the various pubs around here that he thought had good fish and chips. He asked me how many packs I needed and I said one. He reached in and gave me one (3 filets/ea.). Then looking back down into the bin he reached in and pulled out another pack and said, "since this pack doesn't have a price tag, please take it with our compliments!" I thanked him and he walked off smiling and so did I! What a surprise!!! Andy |

Andy, your experience typifies the superb customer service at Trader Joes. They ought to write a book about customer service and get the management of competing stores to read it. |

Absolutely agree. The people working there seem genuinely happy to be working there, unlike every other supermarket. For a long time, I always tied to plan my shopping to minimize the number of stores I'd visit, although I still often visit three or four in one trip to find all the ingredients I want at an acceptable quality. But recently I've found myself planning to swing by TJ's even if I didn't need anything from them that day. I've decided I like shopping there, all other supermarkets are a chore. I like the free samples, of course, and seeing what will be offered next. However, the stores vary a lot in their free samples. My favorite store offers a varied selection, while my least favorite about half the time is sampling the garlic fries. Today, I bought my first beef in a couple years. It appears to be a new product for TJ's. It is an Australian frozen ribeye steak, completely range-fed, never in a feedlot. That satisfies my concerns about safety, because there's never been a case of BSE in Australia. Tomorrow, I will see how it tastes. |

Now, let's see. I like Italian sausage ;-)) -- Think I'll hang around and see if I can find a guy with an Italian accent to give me some attention, and see how long it takes for him to give me a sausage. Dee Dee |
