Actually... my favorite meal is Brunch. Probably my most favorite Brunch is at
Brennan's in Houston, where I will often get something witha decadent sauce on
it and finish up with dessert.. maybe Bananas Foster, or better yet the Bread
pudding.

That's wonderful! I'm afraid of working at animal shelters for fear that I
will bring home too many cats. I'm such a sucker for an animal in distress
and I want to give all of them homes (if I won a million dollars...).

I like smoked salmon--house made, and crepes since I never do them at home.
The most expensive brunch in Winnipeg is about $27 (Cdn) and IIRC, does not
include alcoholic beverages, though does include coffee, tea, and juices. I
usually only go out for brunch 1x/year and only go to the "better"
restaurants (usually in the more expensive hotels) so I am only familiar
with the higher-priced places. They usually serve the "usuals" like eggs
benedict, freshly made waffles, omelet stations, bacon, and sausage but may
also have things like Chilean sea bass and bison brochettes. However, I
think there are other restaurants that have $15-20 brunches and they will
usually serve the typical, pedestrian brunch foods.

We went to a fantastic brunch last month at Foxwoods Resort and Casino in Ct.
They had filet migon, lobster tails, shrimp, rack of lamb, prime rib, ham,
sushi bar, a breakfast station, dessert table, a raw bar, fresh breads, salads
(had a wonderful wild mushroom salad with balsamic dressing) veggies, great
grilled veggie platter -they also had venison-anyway it was $30. per person
that included champange, mimosa'a, juice etc. Worth every dollar. Jan

There's a place we go to on Mother's Day here in town that makes this
amazing brunch. They make a kind of chicken oscar which is lovely and
poached salmon with dill sauce and their fruit is just incredible. I
like more savory foods for brunch with a little sweet for dessert, so I
get the roast beef, chicken, fish, etc, with some fruit.

I think the diffeence is whether you think of brunch as
breakfast rather than lunch. I love breakfast foods
and a buffet is a great place to enjoy lots of them.
It feels strange to me to see people eating roast beef
and other heavy foods at 10 or 11AM.

The Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs (where NATO
is meeting this week) has the nicest brunch I have
ever seen. It's a gorgeous setting and the buffet is
elegantly displayed, varied, and sumptuous. We haven't
been in a few years, but I believe the price is $30-35.
The hotel is old and very well kept, and the grounds
are beautiful.

Many of the posts in this thread have been of what I would consider a
regular buffet or meal, with the addition of eggs and sausage. :-)

Doesn't whatsis Bourdain say that Brunch is the way the kitchen gets
rid of leftovers?

For domestic entertaining, I look for a nice, eggy baked dish of some
sort, juice/fruit, bacon/sausage, and a couple kinds of bread.
Champagne is nice, as are Mimosas, Bloody Marys and Screwdrivers.
