Veggies are still pretty cheap (and most healthy if not being picked by Mexicans who drop their pants and shit all over the place instead of going to potty, giving consumers e-coli). I could live quite well on 15-20 dollars a week. So could they. If you'd follow these blackies around for a week, you likely see that some of their money goes to other wise options, like lottery tickets and cigarettes. |

"Supersize Me" was shown on Canadian TV last night. This is the storry about the chap who ate nothing but McCrap for 28 days. He was dying in the end. Some statistics were given about the fattest states and cities in the union. Mississippi seemed to be the most obese of the states while Houston and Detroit contained the most lard asses. In many societies, being fat is a symbol of prosperity. If I was Mcdonalds, I would have rolled out armies of lawyers in an effort to stop this from being shown on TV. F.J. |

Except for Hindu an sikh families of Indian origin, no family other than a couple (married or not) with no children or adult single living alone can live on vegetarianism *healthily*. A lady from S America who helped clean my place sometimes, told me about a 16 year old girl she had to take in because her mother was only buying organic and making the food with no taste which made the girl not eat and became so thin and sick but the mother's in her own little world. That is what I meant by "practical". |

That is what I meant by "practical". I know that I talked about "using organic stuff only" and not vegetarianism, but the same analogy applies. Indian people can live as vegetarians but they drink milk and eat eggs. The vegetarian liftestyle of Americans doesn't work for families, definitely not large-scale. |

Anyone who becomes unhealthy on a vegetarian diet failed to read books, and it's their own fault. |

If you have real information from a real source, we need web links pointing to the survey(s) or other research. Correct vegetarian cooking is not rocket science. Anyone who can't do it probably can't cook *anything* correctly. I didn't say that they can't. But, the probability of people being malnutritioned is higher among vegetarians than meat eaters. especially the case with female. I have seen many vegetarian Indian female students who are victims of malnutrition while never saw one vegetarian Indian male who suffered the same, not outwardly that is. When i do get dragged in there by the SO, I *always* get one of the salad rolls and a coffee. I can't remember the last time I had a Slak Macs burger........ BLECH!!! I didn't even buy them when I was o/s back in the early 90's!! -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia 'Enjoy today, it was paid for by a veteran' http://www.beccycole.com/albums/vide...ter_girl.shtml |

But to give you an idea of his study here were the rules. 1) No options: he could only eat what was available over the counter (water included!), (and he had to finish anything he ordered) 2) No supersizing unless offered 3) No excuses: he had to eat every item on the menu at least once It was very interesting to watch and has served to make me less a fan of the big guys in the fast food world. Morgan did have to quit early because of his health. His, now wife, then girlfried is a full-time vegetarian chef so this was a big change for Morgan in both his activities of daily living and his body having to readjust to meat, fat, huge portion size, etcetera. I like his ongoing series "30 days" as well. > nancy > |
