Sure they do. We call it "Goodies Kidneys" and a GI Bleed (just to name
two) and we tend to see it in backwoods country folk.

Goodys contains acetaminophen. BC contains aspirin and caffeine.

Learn how to ****ing read ingredient lists before you slam backwood country
folk.

You should be both. I'm both as well at your calling me a "hard-core,
chronic alcoholic". Anyway, I'll get over it. I hope you will as well.

I didn't understand Crash's situation until Kili filled me in.

You have my sympathy and friendship.

Acetaminophen in excess or washed down with that six pack of beer can
screw up a liver. Long term use of Aspirin has been implicated in renal
failure. Both I've seen repeatedly, but almost exclusively in country
folks who don't know any better.

Any negative health indications for ibuprofen?

Thank you. Sincerely.

That's based solely on your own postings in other groups that I
occasionally lurk in. In my experience, people who talk that much
about getting drunk usually have a big problem. My apologies if that
doesn't apply to you.

>I didn't understand Crash's situation until Kili filled me in.

<sigh> I'm glad that she helped you to understand, but if you've been
to doctors lately, you'd know that it's nearly impossible to get help
with pain management. They're scared of turning people into addicts.
Crash *really* needs help with his debilitating pain.

Now that I'm calmer ...

To avoid any misunderstanding with anyone else, it's not just his
hips. It's his knees, ankles, and spine. He had a terrible accident
20 years ago that severely jarred his entire skeletal system and broke
the bones in his heels and ankles. The injuries are catching up with
him now. In July, his neurologist found a good-sized neurofibroma
tumor in his spine. They won't operate until the pain it causes
becomes unbearable because the surgery will be extremely dangerous.

>You have my sympathy and friendship.

Thank you. I hope that we can be friends.

Yes. When taken with alcohol may cause stomach bleeding. Same with
aspirin, which is slightly corrosive on it's own, hence buffered
aspirin.

Gotcha. I can't imagine taking ANY drug **with** alcohol though!

Ibruprofen is more toxic than aspirin in normal theraputic
doses, but not nearly as toxic as acetominophen (which really should
be pulled from the market, being a factor in 50% of liver
failure cases in the U.S.)

One doctor told me that nobody with high blood pressure (even
if controlled with medication) should take ibuprofen and related
painkillers, at least not routinely, due to the additive effect
on possible kidney damage.

Even without alcohol NSAIDs, like ibuprofen (Advil, et al), can cause severe
GI bleeds.

Two that I know of...

Ibuprofen should _always_ be taken with food as it's been implicated in
bleeding ulcers (as is Aspirin) and one should have a good water intake
as they can be hard on the kidneys.

I've been using Ibuprofen now for several years and my renal function
tests are all still normal, but I drink at least 1 gallon of water per
day habitually.

Water, not other liquids. It's my favorite beverage.

I remember one guy I drew some pre-op blood work on. He had burned a
hole in his esophagus from swallowing two Ibuprofen tablets one night
without using water to wash them down.

The GI doctor he went to see called him a idiot to his face. ;-)

He was ****ed, I was amused......
