I spent most of my life in 'can't see me clothes'...... when I got out
of the Army I found I had a penchant for all colours fluorescent. A look
at the rig on my back in the pics would probably give you a hint :-)

Skydivers are rarely called by names on a dropzone. Over here it's the
case anyway.

So, I managed to be 'named' "Fluro" because it was written on one of the
shirts I used to wear. I think it's in one of the pics.

In the Netherlands I was "Skippy4", in the US I was "Peeeeteeer", in
Russia they just had the large printed words "WANTED" over my picture
:-)

Sometimes luv, living with chronic pain is a way of life...

It's just something I don't talk about.
I've learned to live with it.

However, I won't judge because some people have a higher pain tolerance
than others. Granted pain tolerance can be developed but still........
I'll never, EVER criticize someone for having a lower tolerance.
It's very personal and subjective.

And nobody has a right to judge.
Pain meds should be a right.

I have chronic pain, as well. I only go for pain pills if the pain
becomes completely crippling. I see my doctor next week for pain that
started a month ago. I've been trying to ride it out, but there's no
improvement.

I absolutely agree. No one should have to live with terrible pain if
there's a way to buffer it.

Indeed...

1,200 mg Ibuprofen with food (6 over the counter tabs) works for me in
most cases...

I know it's an overdose, but I don't give a rats ass.

Ibuprofen is my DOC.

Tylenol?????? <laughs> What a frickin' joke!
Same for Alieve.

"buffer" being the perfect word. Sometimes pain will ALWAYS be there,
and it is unrealistic to think otherwise. But the things we can do to
"buffer" it so as to improve quality of life are enormous.

Last I heard (and I hope it's changed), hip replacements need to be done
every ten years. I think my cousin is on his third. Things could be
worse. His wife is on her second and last set of lungs. She isn't
going to be around much longer.

My first one only lasted 3 years..then had to be revised. That only
lasted another 3 years..and needed revision again... The last
revision on the right hip replacement was in 2000...and I hope it
lasts a good 20 years or so.

This current hip replacement on the left hip is supposed to last at
least 20 years, according to my doc. I sure hope he is right..I am
tired of this!!!!!

That's been our biggest dillema so far, where to get the shit to take a
shit.

I'm a n00b when it comes to this sort of thing. Toss me a bone, people.

I'm sending out some good vibes for you. Do what the doctors tell you to do
and report back to us in 3 weeks.
You can say whatever you want in the interim, just give us a good report in

Do you have a medical supply store nearby? You probably do.
Otherwise, shop online. Good luck.

Check the Yellow pages for medical supply stores, or ask your local
pharmacist. We had to get some things for a close family friend after
she had cancer, knee surgery, and a heart attack within a year's time.
She's doing much better now, but she uses one of those toilet risers
too...

Yes, check online. Just putting into google the term toilet seat
riser, brings up a ton of hits.

I never gave a rat's ass either, I did mega-doses like that when my *friend*
missed my face and slammed his knee into my sternum while trying to kill me.

Those drugs (Ibuprofen, Acetimenophen) all get processed through the liver.

I use BC powders now for pain control. It's aspirin and caffiene.

They work really fast, taste like a six-pack of ass, and don't harm your
body.

Salicylic acid is the chemical compound with the formula C6H4(OH)CO2H, where
the OH group is adjacent to the carboxylic acid group. This colorless
crystalline organic acid is widely used in organic synthesis and functions
as a plant hormone. It is probably best known as a compound that is
chemically similar but not identical to the active component of aspirin. The
name derives from the latin word for the willow tree (Salix), from whose
bark it can be obtained

And I am in that boat with you.

No particular reason to go to a specialty medical store; their prices
will probably be rather high anywhoo.

Just visit a Walgreens or CVS (or any other) drug store. They should
have one or more in stock. If not, then check online at said drug
stores and use keywords "toilet seat riser" and quite a few different
sorts will be displayed. You may want to call ahead to the store to
make sure they have one on the shelf.

Still gotta be careful of that. They can mess up your clotting
mechanism..and you can bleed a lot easier...

Ain't it the truth. We used that other crap for decades, listening to
all the lies on the tube, and then all of a sudden we learn most of it
has been rotting our bods away while earning the dirtbags billions.
It's back to aspirin for me too, while I still have a liver, kidneys,
etc, left.

I can't take aspirin. It makes my ears ring so badly, I almost can't
hear...

Afaik, Ibuprofen gets processed thru the kidneys, not the liver.

Health care supply store... One that caters to home health.
That's where I bought my mom's walker, bedside commode and shower seat.

Shower seats are nice things. :-)

I also got her pressure socks there. Those helped cut down on leg
swelling when she went into congestive heart failure. They also
delivered her Oxygen tanks.

Mom was an invalid for the last 6 months of her life...

I got her wheelchair on eBay. It was less there than anyplace else! I
managed to pick up a good used one for a bid of $120.00.
