It's me, I still have the shirt........ and I'd just jumped out of an
Antonov2 at 300', 60ks from Moscow, using Russian Paratrooper gear (static
line).

Why, you might ask?

Because before that my lowest jump (from an aircraft) was 350'. And I was
using Rhodesian Para gear.

Oh, and BTW...... you're not ***, are you?

How many *more* males on here are going to 'come out'???!!!

But that asside :-)

My SO likes my small butt and my big arms........ go figger!! It takes all
kinds.

I like her ti.... titilating attitude :-)

They're not the best thing for dental pain. Motrin 800 mg (taken with
food) every 8 hours actually works well for many because it also
includes anti-inflamatory properties.

Last year, Crash had both hips replaced. The doctor said that,
because of his age and the fact that the prosthesis weren't cemented
in (they're hammered in), he'll always have pain from them. He also
has arthritic knees and a bad back.

Agreed... but make it 1,200 mg.

I know it's an overdose but twice per day (WITH FOOD!) for severe
sciatica makes me able to walk again.......

Otherwise, I can't work.

Ibuprofen is a true gift from the gods.

I've never, ever been impressed with Hydrocodone. It does nothing for me.

How do you get flowers associated with 'Fluro'?

Good thing he's not a racehorse, hey?

Otherwise he'd be so much dog food by now :-)

Reminds me of a dog I used to know. It had been shot twice, run over a
couple of times, was deaf, blind in one eye, had lost one gonad in an
accident, then lost a leg......... and his name was 'Lucky' !! :-)

I don't understand. Hip prostheses are usually installed
uncemented for younger and/or fitter people. They aren't normally
a source of continuing pain. I had an uncemented replacement of
my left hip in 2003 and I can no longer tell that it's any
different from my right hip. Crash must have problems that
are even worse than the ordinary hip replacement candidate's.

Mine was hammered in too..and uncemented..and I am older than Crash.
Same for the other hip...and the pain is gone.

I finally asked his surgeon if this level of pain was normal, and he
said it was. You start to wonder after awhile, you know? The surgeon
has told Crash's primary physician that he needs constant pain
control.

I guess the shaft they stick down the thigh bone shifts very slightly
when Crash stands up, causing pain inside the bone. I understand that
this should get better at some point.

The good news is, he's finally agreed to intense physical therapy. I
think that stronger muscles will help hold things in place better.

That would be great if it can reduce the pain and discomfort.

Is he able to get adequate rest? I know from previous experience that
fatigue can go hand-in-hand with chronic pain, along with depression.

He takes several sedating medications. He's probably awake a total of
10 hours a day. He's sleeping now.

Ask another surgeon not associated with the first one just to know for
sure. I'm a cynic which seldom disappoints my expectations.

I agree with Leo. This level of pain is NOT normal.
Plus, the shaft that fits down into the femur should not be shifting:
if it is, it was not fitted properly. It should be an extremely tight
fit, with no room for movement.

I would personally get a 2nd opinion.

Just my opinion, he's relying too heavily on the meds. Ya gotta get up
sometime and deal with the pain and start living again.

My Mother's SO had hip replacement surgery (I'm thinking about 10 years ago)
and he's been a dynamo ever since.

Medicine is a short term solution for unbearable pain. It's not a way of
life.

I don't mean to offend, I just don't agree with "living" ones life on
mind-numbing drugs.

One would think English would be the language spoken by residents of a
British penal colony. You misspelled "your".

SF is indeed a lass. My lovely wife knows her.

I love your pictures BTW, and there is no animosity in this post.

There's more going on than just the hips. I'm not going to post
Crash's entire medical history to Usenet.
