.... since I see you're around ...

Guess where I went ... Twice! Valley Sheperd Creamery. I had
bookmarked it from when you mentioned it however long ago.
I remember you'd ordered a lamb.

First time I went, in the grand tradition of nancy, it was closed.
Fed the horses and went to lunch at Long Valley Pub and Brewery.

Went back the next week on a day they were open, this past
Thursday. Fed the horses again (remembered to bring hand wipes)
and bought some cheese and yogurt. Thanks for the tip, though
buying lamb when the real deal is lookin at you didn't work out.
Heh.

Both times stopped at the Melick's Town Farm, that was nice and
I even saw the Percheron horses drawing a hay cart.

AHA! How wonderful. I am so flattered you remembered.

We have eaten there a couple of times and enjoyed it.

Truth be told, the lamb was a lot tougher than lamb at that price had
any right to be. I have the stewing pieces still left, and the shanks
and haven't done them, yet, but I think I'll stick to the cheeses next
time I buy there.

There is nothing like a nice drive out into the beautiful New Jersey
countryside, lovely rolling farmlands fast being turned into housing
developments.....it is still pretty out there. I hope some brakes are
put on development, though I cannot blame a farmer for wanting to cash
in on his property.

Yeah, the building fascinates me. And I like the food. It's my kind
of place.

Very interesting to hear that. Truth be told, I am not much for lamb,
so it's not what I was looking for anyway. I got a couple of brie type
things, they could step it up in the labeling department. I didn't really
feel like asking questions.

It's just gorgeous. I see that they are fighting for it, sure are enough
preservation signs all around. Cause when it's gone, it's gone. Still
good.
