Default Halloween Dinner

When I was but a child of elementary school age, my mom always made the
same quick dinner so we kids could get home from school, quickly do
homework, eat, get dressed, and get out the door. It was always the same
meal every year: pigs-in-a-blanket made from Oscar Mayer hot dogs, Kraft
American cheese slices, and Pillsbury crescent rolls from the can.

Today my niece and my nephew are going out trick-or-treating. I'm visiting
my parents here for the "holiday". Being 41 I've long been out of the
Halloween game. I'm just here to see the youngest kids off. Today my 72yo
mother made dinner. Yep, you guessed it, pigs-in-a-blanket. It's a
once-a-year meal but it's still got the magic I remember from the 70s.

Oh, and BTW, mom has continued to make that same meal on Halloween even
when all of us kids had moved out.
