Does anyone know about this product with many flavors or has anyone used
it?

i was told it was good and higher in protein than the others?

Our store doesn't carry them....who does?

Thank you for any help.

I recently started using it. Like other bullions, it's pretty salty.
It's also very concentrated and I'm having a heck of a time learning
to not use too much. I overdose every time.

Is this anything like the Orrington Farms soup base/bullions in the
jars?? I used some last week and was quite happy with the results. Of
course I held off using any salt until the end and it still didn't need
any additional sodium. Also, the Maggi Sauce was salty so I did quite
well not grabbing the salt shaker.

I use it quite a bit and I like it.
I found, however, that I like Penzey's vegetable flavor a little more than
Better Than Bouillion.

I have used 3 of the BTB flavors and liked them all. You have to be
careful about adding additional salt, though.

I keep their chicken and lobster versions on hand for emergencies. It's much
better than other, similar products--even Knorr, which is better than
everything else. Also, if you ever have to cook for people who must not
consume wheat, it is one of the few that doesn't contain yeast products of
some kind.

I used the Knorr veg-veg boullion cubes exclusively for many years.
Until the day that I found out that "yeast extract" eas actually MSG.
Now, I really don't want to be adding that crap to my food, so I've
quit Knorr completely.

It's back to the scraps from my veggies in a freezer bag, then simmered
into soup stock. Or else, I buy the 32-oz asceptic packages of Kitchen
Basics stock. Its got REALLY good flavor and it's not nearly as salty
as BTB. But it's pricey to buy the premade boxes rather than a cube or
base, that's for sure. I only use it in stuff like my pilafs or
tortellini en brodo, where the broth flavor is a primary flavor to the
recipe.

Oddly enough, I just bought some of the Kitchen Basics vegetable stock for
the first time last night, because I had to make a vegetarian soup and
needed to save time. (I also wanted wheat-free.) It certainly isn't salty,
but is is sweet. Naturally so, I gather--at least, it tastes real. Vegetable
stocks, even this one, don't really do it for me, though.

I agree with pretty much everybody so far. I like BTB much better than
bullion cubes.

Did some pasta en brodo yesterday with some frozen stock that I made from a
Costco roast chicken. After adding a bit of hot water, it was a bit flat and
a couple of pea-sized globs of BTB along with some fresh parsley brought it
around nicely.

I've been using the beef, chicken and vegetable for a couple of years
now. I prefer it to other brands, but I have trouble finding it. It's a
dollar more expensive than other labels, so some of my local shops have
stopped carrying it, or will only carry the unusual flavors like
mushroom and lobster.

Don't know about the protein levels, but I think the flavor is stronger
than other bases, certainly better than ordinary bullion cubes.

It's very good. Less salt per unit flavoring than
boullion cubes.

>i was told it was good and higher in protein than the others?

The protein content is meaningless. It's generally
diluted by 50X or more.

>Our store doesn't carry them....who does?

Safeway. Fry's. It's a supermarket item.

And now it comes in a lot more flavors, like mushroom,
ham, clam, chili, lobster, plus organic versions...

I get the Supreme, both chicken and beef, it's lower in sodium.
I haven't tried other flavors.

I've used their seafood base when making clam chowders...Was good. I found
their ham base pretty bland though. I use their supreme chicken and turkey
bases a lot.

nancy,
I've wanted to try this for a while, but have never seen it. Is it
only available off the website?

I did try the Supreme, and liked it but not as much as the "regular".
Maybe I'm looking for the salt. I think the Supreme is dextrose based.
If you accept their analysis, there is less sodium in the "regular" than
most canned stocks.

I've experimented with some of the others, but I buy the "R C Chicken
Base" which is is the "Chicken Redi-Base" in a larger jar.

Back to the original post: I'm sure Better then Bullion is better
than a bullion cube. So are the Redibase bases. For chicken I'd
say Redibase is as good as canned chicken stock. IMO.

You know, I don't think so, but I also don't know if I've
ever seen it on the shelves. I can't think why I knew the name

I keep saying it's you. And I thought I'd heard of them before.
It's just a big old Redi-Base confusion I have going on. (laugh)
Funny to find that the mail order PO Box is about 10 miles from
me.

Well I like their products overall, except the ham base. But I think it was
one of the various tammy's that first mentioned them...So I tried them. But
my memory for names sucks, so I most like am wrong about the name. The
redibase webpage was posted in the Buffy Lyre era. I miss Buffy's
stories...Tell a story Nanners.

Really? Less salty than BTB? Hmm, will have to give that a try, I've
been reasonably satisfied with BTB but the saltiness of these products
is always an issue.

There are various Tammys? 'Tweren't this one. I'm interested in the
product, though. I don't see a "Supreme" product on the web site.

So she emblished....deluxe is the low sodium low fat supreme to which she
referred. As in Deluxe Chicken Base. 1 tsp makes 1 cup of stock. The 1 lb
jar makes 5 gallons of stock. The first thing on the ingredient list is
chicken meat. That's the shocker...Most comercial stocks don't even have
any chicken mentioned as a ingredient, in fact most are vegan compatible..

I have to disagree. I used to use Knorr exclusively, and it is at least as
salty as BTB, probably more.

Well that's what I was thinking! I've used Knorrs and always found it
to be salty. But I was more keen on trying the others. I seem to
remember someone else recommending Minors brand (someone whose opinion
I respected but now can't remember!) Prob is, I've never seen Minors
or Tones anywhere here. So I'd have to order online.

Well, if you compare labels you will find that Chicken BTB's first
ingredient is chicken meat. I doubt you will find that to be the case with
Tone. Minors I'm not familiar with.

I've used Minors -- I'll check the ingredients list tomorrow. I
thought the chicken was ok, didn't like the beef... That's why I
wondered about reddibase.
