Default Our Cook-In Is Cancelled

We're not holding our scheduled cook-in this weekend because
a) it's still a madhouse, with the guys moving into the basement
b) I'm sick as the proverbial dog
c) no one came anyway

Many thanks to Barb Schaller for suggesting we change our original
date to clear the way for the cook-in she really wanted to attend.
Sorry I couldn't make it to that one. I would really like to have met
June and Tammy. (Nothing against those two ladies at all.)

I wouldn't have said anything, but I'm very, very, sick, my Minnesota
Nice filters are down, and the more I think about it, the more ****ed
off I get. I hate being manipulated.

Barb, FOAD. Stop pretending to be my friend. BTW, there are lots of
you out there who *think* she likes you. I know better.

With great bitterness,
Carol, going back to bed and hoping to die of a Sudafed overdose

Holy shit! I wondered why that didn't go through a month ago, when I
wrote it. I'm feeling better now, and wouldn't have posted it at this
point, but I guess it's too late now.

I still feel the same way, just not as strongly.

No kidding. Which Barb is getting the barbs. The Barb of the first
part I know, but who's the Barb of the second part? Or, are they the
same Barb and Dams is just cycling through one of her psychotic
episodes?

Should I be runnning for a lawnchair and popcorn?

Because she cancelled them all before the server could spread them
far? I can't see her messages in this thread either, just the

Most ISPs no longer honor cancels because of abuse (people cancelling each
others posts). I just checked Usenet today and was still able to download
your article using Verizon dsl.

For shame, Carol. Your behavior disappoints me.

This is what I know. As of August, I hadn't read RFC in months and had
no idea you were planning a cook-in. Tammy was coming to visit Barb.
Barb emailed and suggested a joint dinner outing because I'd never met
Tammy, and Barb knows I'd travel to the cities for a good meal. I said,
hey, well, let's make it a true WWT and have a cook-in instead! We can
do it at my house!

And you know what Barb said to me when I sprung the idea? She said
(emailed), and I quote, "Maybe you could invite Carol and Crash? ...I
think Tammy would like to meet Damsel and vice versa." And I'll be
honest, I hadn't read rfc for at least half a year, it didn't even
occur to me to invite you until Barb asked me to!

She doesn't deserve this, Carol. Barb is a good person and has been a
good friend to me for a long time.

Ditto. I rarely engage in usenet battles OR quote the whole text of a
message, but this debacle really hacks my chops. I have ALL of the
emails to back up what June has accurately stated. FTR. Not that I'd
post 'em, that would be as inexcusable as the original offense.
Saying FOAD to a FRIEND who speaks so highly of you is pretty shitty.
And so is impugning her reputation.

BAD FORM, Dams, badly done. IMO you owe Barb an apology. Preferably
a public one.

I thought that cook-in had been cancelled some time ago after
teetering for a while on "it's happening"/"it's not happening" ...

A _very_ disappointing reaction on your part, Carol -- and certainly
not one any of us should have seen -- especially Barb, who did not
do this to you.

I hope you recover soon.

For those who have "OT" posts filtered ...

I have made a public apology to Barb, and she has accepted. We are
exchanging e-mail.

At the time, I believed that everything I wrote was true and accurate.
In fact, it was neither. It was written in a psychotic rage. Not
figuratively, literally.

I have an appointment with my shrink on Tuesday, and will request
aggressive treatment for my condition.

I regret the results of my actions on everyone who was affected.

I got a pen tablet for my birthday, and I decided to test it by making a
little cartoon and use a little part of a funny little piece of music I
made once, where I sing "you little stupid dog" (in danish).
