Fennel stalks?
Just curious to see if anyone here has tried them. I know they can be used
for fish stock but... I read that you can eat them as you would celery and they are good for stuffing. I wound up throwing mine out, again but just curious for the future. I think the fennel I bought was past its prime. Had a lot of stalk and fronds and not much bulb. Plus it was tough. I was afraid to eat it lest I not digest it. But husband liked it! |

He used it as a great crunchy snack. I know some poel use the feathery frond as a seasoning in salads or soups, etc. If you cna handle clery with yoru digestive problems you most lkely sould handle the fannel. Try a little and see how you like it and tolerate it. It has a lovely licorice flavor raw that largely dissapates when cooked. Wendy |

I think it was old. |

I *did* know how to prepare the bulbs. Apparently you are not familiar with fennel. The stalks are routinely thrown away or used for fish broth which I do not make. |

I chop them up and put them in stir frys. They need to cook longer because of the toughness. I would put them in first. They are delicious that way. -- I'm Trawley Trash, and you haven't heard the last of me yet. |
