Default Zip Fizz. Not so good for us.

Not sure how widely available this stuff is. It is made just up the street
from me. It's a powdered energy and vitamin drink that comes in tubes. You
put it in a bottle of water that you taken some out of. If you don't take a
little out you have a big mess. If you don't take enough out (like I did)
you still have a mess. The stuff fizzes as you put it in. No sugar in it.
We've gotten samples at Costco and it tastes good. I just bought a box
because they had a coupon for it at Costco.

Angela had a tube of it yesterday before dance class. Then I had a tube
when I got home from dropping her off yesterday.

Angela got to bed shortly after midnight. Then the whining began. "Mom! I
can't sleep! I'm not tired at ALL!" This generally only happens at the
start of the school year. And because she didn't do her homework in a
timely fashion over the weekend as I had instructed her to do, she wound up
staying up super late for several days so she could get it all done. So she
has been super sleepy all week.

I went to bed around 3:00 a.m. and was wide awake. I mean WIDE awake! Now
caffeine doesn't usually have this effect on me. But it sure did then.

Angela's alarm went off at 5:50. It's supposed to go off at 6:00. I don't
know how the time keeps going wrong. I just reset it the other day after
days of it going off at 5:30. She is hard enough to get out of bed. No
need for the alarm to be going off early!

I set three alarms all to start going off at 6:00. I remember several times
telling her to get up. She said she would.

The next thing I know I am startled awake with the feeling that it is later
than it should be. Sure enough, it is almost 8:00. I don't remember the
exact time I awoke but when I looked on the computer, the school was due to
start in 10 minutes. It takes a good 10 minutes at least to drive there.
And luck was not with us this morning. School buses broken down and stopped
all over the place. Crazy drivers. One person backed out of their driveway
and sat there, blocking my way. Eventually another car backed from the same
driveway and went on their merry way. The first car just pulled back in.
No turn signal. No lights. Gah!

The good thing is there is some kind of drama show for first period. The
bad thing is she will be late for it. I think the kids were already in the
gym or wherever it is being held. I didn't see anyone outside.

So now... What to do with the rest of the Zip Fizz? I don't think it's
safe for us to drink it. Says it wears off in 4 to 6 hours. 4 to 6 hours
my eye!

lol. And as to the school trip, I'd have stayed at home under those
circumstances. What point in risking so many lives, especially piles of
kids in school buses.

Oh the thought crossed my mind but she has already missed several days of
school. I couldn't really keep her home since she wasn't actually sick.
Kids are dropping like flies around here with some sort of illness. A girl
at the dance studio left in tears yesterday with a stomachache and headache.
I've known her for years and she is the type who is always in a good mood.
I've never seen her cry before. So it must have been bad. I am just making
sure that Angela takes her vitamins. We don't need to get sick again.

Actually I think we were sick but perhaps a much milder version of what
other people are getting. I had a headache that was not quite as bad as a
migraine but a bit similar. Angela has been complaining off and on of a
headache. I also thought I might throw up. We both had this weird sort of
runny/stuffy nose. Mine was only on the right side and the eye on that side
was watering like crazy! The other eye was watering a little. Angela had
similar symptoms. It was annoying but not enough to make me think I was
sick enough to stay home.

I doubt that the food bank would want it since it doesn't actually contain
any calories. And people needy enough for the food bank aren't going to be
able to afford the bottles of water to put it in. At least I don't think
so.

I told Angela we should just have it in the morning or split a tube. The
samples they give out at Coscto are just an ounce or two. That amount
doesn't seem to affect us.

No calories maybr, but no problem getting water form a tap and putting it
into a glass or a botle you already have. Don't you guys drink tap water?
I exist on it.

Nope. I quit drinking tap water back when we lived on Cape Cod and our
water wasn't safe for drinking. The water in military housing can be kind
of weird.

Actually I do have about 8 oz. of tap water each time I take my Carafate if
I don't have a bottle open. But mostly I don't drink tap water because I
don't like it.

The Zip Fizz is not designed for tap water. It's specifically designed for
bottles. I don't know what it might do if you were to put it in a glass of
water and you certainly wouldn't want to put it in a reusable bottle. Would
make quite a mess.

Yeah, but tap water in NY is so good that for awhile it was being bottled
and then sold in other parts of the country!

Not on Fort Wadsworth, it wasn't! Our water had weird little white
particles in it. Even scarier is that they would seem to disappear if the
water sat for a while.

I really miss NY water. It was so good! *sigh* I grew up on it.

I drink tap water here in Boston and think it's pretty good, but many
people I know drink only bottled water. I don't get it.

What exactly do you think the difference is between the water that came
in the bottle when you purchases it and the tap water that you can put
in the bottle once it's empty? You know they both came out of a tap
somewhere, don't you?

I drink spring water. But the problem is the mess it makes in the bottle.
Those reusable bottles are hard to clean!

They do the same here, in NYC. It makes no sense to me, particularly if
they have kids as the water is fluridated, promoting strong teeth. As a
person who grew up with teeth that seemed to be made of compacted cream of
wheat that threw up their little hands everytime a germ came by and
shouted "I give up," I was thrilled that my kids had only one cavity
between them on their baby teeth and then practically none as they grew
with their new, grown-up teeth. I used to use frozen OJ, dry milk, etc so
tht they would get plenty of water in their diet. It was also easier to
carry home without all that water in it:-) One must remember that in NYC
you walk to the supermarket and carry home your pruchases or, at best,
push them in a grocery cart.

Too much fluoride is a bad thing! Lots of places are no longer putting it
in water. You can get bottled water with it in there, but I won't buy that
kind.

Angela regularly got fluoride treatments at the dentist when she was
younger. She also gets it in her toothpaste. That's plenty!
