Default Leftovers, leftovers......

After all that frenzy of cooking I did last weekend, we are finally
finishing up the leftovers.

I had a lot of nice green beans that were cooked from before, so I first
melted some butter in a frying pan and sauteed an onion in it. Then I put
the previously cooked green beans in the same pan (after draining them well)
and tossed them with the butter till they warmed up a bit. Additions of
salt, pepper and a quick sprinkle of dried chives really gave them a great
flavor. It is a good way to get a different taste from leftover green
beans.

Along with that I reheated the last two stuffed peppers that I had made with
some of the ground turkey mixed with a little bit of a special rice blend I
bought from Trader Joes that I put right in the mix with the meat.

I have to tell you, Trader Joes has some of the most interesting goodies!
I don't often get there, but there are certain favorite items that they
stock.

It's less than twenty miles to 'my' TJs, but I only schlep over every
month or so just to get some of those - interesting items.

Also, I enjoy their plain Puffins cereal.

The only white rice I eat these days, is the sticky rice in their
California rolls.

Wish I could go tomorrow, but we've got blizzard threats yet again,
and with a high predicted of - like - 2, it won't really be a great
day for errands. They're promising we'll get up into double
digits by the weekend.

It's really cold here too. Hubby has been running the woostove every day
for a while, just to save on some oil.

The rice blend I used from TJ's was not white rice, but a blend of various
brown rices and some kind of black barley too. I only used a tiny bit and
mixed it right into the mix of the stuffing. Hubby prefers white rice, but
he is going to eat better if I have to muscle him into it!!!! Frankly this
rice blend was awesome.

I only wish there was. There isn't one anywhere near here either. I got
this stuff on the way home from visiting my father in New Jersey last time.
There is one on Route 17 in Paramus.

I know that one and have used it back in the days when we had a car. That
Paramus one is very nice, and was not at all crowded when we were there.

It is always somewhat busy, but not to the point where you wouldn't want to
shop there. I like it and never miss a chance to go there whenever I get
the chance.
