Default Another hungry newbie hello.

Another newbie to this group. Known to frequent a.s.diabetes recently.

I am battling four wars. 1 Bad Cholesterol. 2 Gout. 3 Diabetes T2. 4. High
blood pressure.

I see all these recipes with eggs and butter and typical animal (saturated)
fat and sodium that just have me stymied.

I've lost a lot of weight recently as a result.

How's that for a fine hello?!?

1. My cholesterol readings dropped into the normal range when I went to
a LoBAG diet.

It is possible to manage a low carbohydrate diet without too many
saturated fats. We do it here all the time. We eat lots of salads with
the dressings made from olive oil. We eat lots of veggies, especially
the cruciforous ones like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli. Our meats and
poultry are trimmed or lean to begin with and we eat fish and seafood.

We fill up on fiberous veggies so we don't need carbs or a lot of fat to
feel full. Low fat cheeses and Neufchatel cheese instead of full-fat
cream cheese, etc. Be careful to read labels on dairy products, however.
The fat-free ones often contain double the carbohydrates of the full-fat
ones.

Egg Beaters has only 1 gram of carbs per serving. You could do bacon or
sausage in the microwave between sheets of white paper toweling to
remove a lot of the fat, if you like breakfast meat.
