Default Smooth top vs. coil - redux

I started a thread three weeks ago and saw lots of conversation and
opinions about the subject, as I was considering a new range. Thanks
for all the feedback.

GE's JSP42WKWW was installed yesterday. I discovered the old one was
hardwired in and the delivery guys disconnected it for us. Rob could
have done it, I think, but this was much simpler and less stressful on
all parties. And the installer put the receptacle box in for no
additional charge because the wiring was all in place, etc., and
accessible. Jam all around and $20 for the delivery guys and we're all
happy.

I think I will like it. I haven't baked yet, and I haven't made jam yet
- maybe today. There's quite a bit of information in the manual
relating to using the unit for canning. I did put my Bigass canning
kettle on it about half full of water and it boiled in about 15 minutes
-- not bad, at least acceptable. Time will tell and the proof will be
in the jam, but I look forward to learning the ins and outs. I'm a
little edgy about the caveats regarding sugar spills.

My cheap non-stick skillet isn't as flat as I thought it was. :-) I'll
probably replace it when I get annoyed with its instability -- likely
soon. As my neighbor said, "well, save it for the garage sale." Its
interior is in good shape.

I've put a few pics on my website. Thanks again for your input.
