Amana bottom freezer and door openings
I want to buy the Amana bottom freezer model ARB220RCB (33" by 70"
cabinet). The door on this model opens to the left, and the unit will sit very close to a wall on the left. I have a galley kitchen and its design prohibits a door opening to the right. Does anyone know if a 45 degree door opening will be unimpeded by the wall? In other words, does the hinge of the door open flush to the cabinet? Thanks! Dennis v. |

The upper door, hinged on the left, actually is about 1/4" wider than the body of the fridge. With the hinge arrangement, the open door at 90º is still about 1/4" wider than the body. You should have no trouble with your clearances. I suggest that you go to a dealer and grope around behind the hinges to determine the exact dimensions for yourself. The door on the freezer, at 90º (or even 120º), will not permit the freezer tray to be fully extended. If you are considering an icecube maker you should check to see if you can get the icecube tray out. So far it has been an excellent product. Ribitt |
