Default double boiler

I am looking for a one pint white enameled double boiler. These were
utterly commonplace a few decades back but seem to have completely
disappeared. Nothing on eBay or Google or Amazon.
Anybody have any ideas?

I have not seem one in ages, but could you use a nice Pyrex one,
instead? They are not hard to come by on eBay. I have a Pyrex one I
use all the time. It is very handy.

This looks like what you want...

You might also try thrift shops, old hardware stores, 5 & 10's, etc.

Pyrex DBs don't come pint size and they break.

I can't believe that such a useful little piece of equipment has
vanished from the market. If the concept weren't so basic I would
assume some kind of legal dispute -- some kind of intellectual property
or liability thing. But that can't be. Where is the free market when
you need it?

Pint sized is quite small, so small, in fact, that one would be
tempted to place a metal bowl over hot water in a larger pot for basic
cooking. Craft use would be something else.

I'd say there is just little demand for the product and it is not
around for that reason.

You might be able to find a bain marie in the size you want and it
will serve your purpose. Most of these are not classics, but might
help.

The free market is working. I can't think of a reason that I'd want a pint
sized DB. Probably no one else did so they stopped making them.
