Default Radarange Temperature Probe Usage?

Greets, all!

I've had a RR-9T for probably about the last ten years or so--a
hand-me-down from an old GF who, in turn, got it from her parents
however many years before.

It's kinda funny. I can't count the number of times people have
offered me one of their old (though not as old as this one) microwave
ovens, citing how old and clunky mine is. Even more numerous have been
the suggestions that I get a new one--period.

I tell people the same thing every time. As long as I use a carousel,
it works just fine, and I've never seen a microwave before or since
that has a better interface than my Touchmatic.

Anyway, to the topic at hand: Yesterday I picked up a temp. probe for
the first time from RepairClinic.com (FANTASTIC place, btw. I cannot
recommend them enough.) and I realized that I have no idea how to use
the thing.

I've used probes in other microwaves just fine, but I'm not familiar
with how to do it on this machine. Naturally, I don't have the manual
for this one, and I don't feel compelled to go out and buy one just to
learn this one feature.

Can anyone tell me the proper key-sequence to run the probe?

(I'd prefer direct email replies.)

Many thanks in advance,

---cmj :^)

Ask in public, answer in public :-) (besides, my munged address
makes it hard to send email).

If your '9T is like my old '8, there really aren't many options.
Plug in the probe and you will be prompted to enter the temperature
you want -- between 110 and 200 degrees. For example, for 140
degrees, you would press 4; for 170 degrees, you would press 7. You
also can select a power level the same way as always (temp first
then power level). Those are the only options I had on my
RadarRange, but it worked well enough. I miss it on other microwaves.

Heya,

Thanks for the reply! (BTW, the only reason I really asked for a pvt.
reply is that I don't hang out much on usenet these days, and I'm not
overly familiar with the google groups engine. Regardless...

I appreciate the info. I was actually doing it wrong. I didn't know
about the single-digit temp. selection. I kept trying to enter a full
temp. number, e.g. (one)(six)(zero) (temp control) (start). Since my
last digit was a zero, the thing would shriek that it was done just as
soon as I hit the start button.

Now I gotta run downstairs and try it!

Thanks again,

---chris
