Hardly original in any sense. The real original hot chocolate was what
the Aztecs drank, coarsely ground cacao beans, mixed with corn meal,
sweetened with honey in hot water.

This was food of the gods and of the priesthood that served them by
ripping out human hearts of captives and of individuals sent
as tribute to the Aztec Empire before the Spanish arrived.

Chocolate must be a drug otherwise why would the cultured Aztecs
done such hideous things? Maybe because they were convinced that
shedding human blood kept the Sun rising and the Rain falling.
Religion can be the deadliest drug.
