FA Sweet Shop confectionery running manual
The Sweet Shop by Charles Vernon ,VGC ,undated ,but a model
confectioners invoice is dated to 1938 ,so thereabouts. 332 pages. Georgeous old book on the running of the traditional old fashioned sweet shop. Covers everything in great detail (332 pages worth!),shop design, shop window display of confectionery, wrapping, serving, counter display, etc.I would suggest that this is a perfect book for someone wanting to start a traditional style sweet shop, or a chocolatier etc. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...1560&rd=1&rd=1 |

It's mostly about the business side of being a confectioner rather than making confectionery. And it very much reflects the state of the business in pre-war England, though much of the advice is universally applicable. The author has lots of interesting anecdotes about dealing with customers, employees, and suppliers. http://www.addall.com/Used/ has 44 listings, starting at $11.83. I think I paid more than that for my copy, but certainly not much more. This is not a rare book. |
