Pussy. All cabbies will drive the wrong way on an Avenue for a
couple extra bucks. The speaking in tongues was a freebie.

The stouts, ranging from a dry stout to a couple of imperials, are
uniformly ****ING GOOD. The rest of the lineup, not counting the
girly beers, are G-FG. They also make cask-conditioned beer for the
rest of the city (no handpump at the brewpub).

But there never seems to be anyone there. I think it's a mob front.

I wish I could remember whatever French phrase it was that he kept saying
over and over as a rejoinder, but alas my memory is shot and my coherence is
somewhat diminished by the IPA festival at Lucky Baldwins.

Then why the **** did you order us a pitcher of IPA instead of the stout?
Moran. (For reference:

That was bizarre. What time did we get there? Midnight? And yet, IIRC, we
were the only souls there.

Two comments on that: one, if the selection wasn't thrilling, it changes
often and is often thrilling (and just what the hell is thrilling, anyway:
hops, hops and more hops, tossed liberally with high ABV?). Two, I get my
thrill behind the bar too -- the G-Lodge has a very broad whiskey selection
these days, and there's often a rare treat there.

BBW is swinging hard, and fails to make contact at times. Their everyday
lineup does suffer somewhat from taproom timidity, IMO. But some of their
less everyday beers are excellent.

You just wanted to look at the chicks at Ch**k's; Frane musta drooled about
'em. Can't blame ya. Didja get a milkshake?

Y'know...I've only ever been twice, but I wonder about that myself.

I can still hear him shouting it as we drove up Ninth. Or was it
down Tenth... his laugh as he turned to me made me wonder why I
chose "leg room" over "safety and sanity" and sat in front.

Nice.

IIRC, "others" wanted the IPA too, and there wasn't a stout
available. Blame that New Hampshirean *******. You all suck.

Earlier than that. Blind Tiger was packed with People We Couldn't
Possibly Hook Up With by then. And yet we went back.

They have a lot of contract accounts around the city, and
theoretically they're busy SOMEtime. Just never when anyone I know
is there.

Come on, even Jackson trolls better than that.

Was hoping to catch their pils, but missed it by a few days according to
the bar staff. Their Scotch Ale was good, but everything was just kind of
underwhelming.

I'll leave the sophomore milkshake rejoinders to the list of usual suspects.
Had a couple of great sandwiches, as always, and the wife had a black &
white
shake. No shit, but even she's convinced that place is well worth a 3-hour
drive just to feed. Doesn't hurt that the hired help are easy on the eyes,
and
it's just a short trip up the road to Grey Lodge.

Actually, I was just asking if you got a milkshake. If your wife did, no
wonder she thinks it's worth the trip; they're exceptional, worth the trip
on their own, for my money. But yeah, they are easy on the eyes. For my
cheesesteak money, though, I'll on up Frankford to Frusco's, my current
fave.

I'm going with fable. How did he even get to the jugular?
Ever seen a griz? The fur is a foot thick. What? Did Dude
shave the big doggie down first? Bull. ****ing. Shit.

Oh. Wait. Is this a beer group? (And **** the rest of you.

If I'd owned a bar, I'd have had him (twin claspers, so it
must have been...) stuffed and displayed for atmosphere.
Because atmosphere is so very important. Griz in Montana,
Great White in soCal. Works for me...

"So there I was, knee-deep in grenade pins..."

So if someone came in and said: "I pulled this bit of enamel
off of Tut's butt plug when I was working at the Smith..."
You'd say: "Holy ****! Let's build a bar 'round that!"

Maybe that works in the odd ******** state...

Nothing like going on a long trip to make you seem like a rude jerk who
won't say thanks for the tip, so a belated thanks for the tip. By the
time I got home, Hop Devil was here. GOOD. I'd expected more of a hop
monster, though. A little too balanced to claim true demonic stature.
But it's earned a place of honor in the hop palace I call a beer fridge.
