Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

Default Pellet fueled grill/smokers?

Anyone using a unit like the American Grill made unit or a Traeger? I
use a homebuilt smoker currently and a Weber Silver B but am thinking
about a smaller smoker. Current smoker started life as a LARGE upright
freezer. Kind of a pain to do a single brisket without wasting fuel.

Steve -- I have used the Traeger 075 for over two years - short time per afb
standards- and have had very good results from it.

Steve, my husband and I bought a Traeger in June, and we're enjoying the
heck out of it! I've mostly done "short term" stuff on it -- "Beer Can
Chicken", fish packets and vegetables (we all particularly love onions with
some Traeger rub and butter!) --- but my husband has done ribs a couple of
times, too. All have come out wonderfully.

One thing I would recommend is investing in the automatic thermostat. It
adds a couple of hundred dollars to the cost, but it is soooo convienent.

Good luck.

Sheila
