A big thanks to Dave Bugg from Down Under
Dave,
I just want to say a big public thanks for your hospitality when my wife and I visited your fine establishment last month. For us Aussies it was quite a treat to finally see what real 'Q is all about. To put everyone in the picture, my wife won us a trip to Vancouver. Well, I figured it was only a quick 4.5 hour drive to Wenatchee so we headed off early, arriving at Dave's fine establishment at lunch time. The gracious host that he is, Dave took time out of his busy day to give us a tour of the premises, and I finally got to see what a full rack of ribs is meant to look like (not the off-cuts that butchers and supermarkets shove down our throats as 'American Spare Ribs' here in Australia). After the tour, we were served up some exceedingly large portions of ribs, brisket, pork, beans, slaw, and a few other morsels. Ohhh the flavour and tenderness!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it again as I type. We loved the home-made iced tea as well, but it's a good thing there are plenty of rest areas on the way back to Vancouver...if you know what I mean. To those who haven't visited but are thinking about it - GO!!! The atmosphere in Dave's shop is wonderful, in a very homey down-to-earth sort of way. During the 2-3 hours that we were there, no customer left hungry and Dave's food, service and friendly manner ensured that repeat business and positive word-of-mouth is guaranteed (Actually, I think Dave could yell and scream at his customers and they'd still return for the food). As my wife and I finally rolled ourselves out the door after stuffing ourselves to bursting point I couldn't wipe the smile from my face. Dave, thanks again for looking after us. I see in one of the other posts last week you were closed for a few days - I hope everything is okay and you are all happy and healthy. When you have time I'd love to get that beans recipe from you, if you could email it to me please. All the best with the store. One year down, many more to go. Happy First Anniversary! --- Peter Rodger. ____________________________________________ |

Dave knows his stuff, what with all that traveling he did. Not surprising he makes great Q. Can't wait to sample some myself someday. I promise I'll make it there in the near future, Dave. If nothing else, just to visit the wedding shrine. |

Dave's food is GOOD! For me, it's only about a 3 hour drive. Damn straight it's true. You ARE a creepy, pathetic coward. Thanks for agreeing. >Isn't it time to find a new troll? It's understandable why you continue to deny e-mailing my boss, Dank. It's about the most pathetic, reprehensible thing ever to arise out of Usenet. Plus, you aren't man enough to take responsibility for your actions. Lie all you want, Dank. There's a reason why my boss referred to you by name, out of the clear blue, with no prompting from me. He knows your name because you e-mailed him -- more than once -- to complain about me posting to Usenet. Go stalk someone else, creep. |

You honestly think that the only correct or reasonable answer is "keep on walking," don't you? That's just sad. Here's a big clue, CAL, fresh out of the clue oven and piping hot with clueful goodness: Being *** isn't the worst thing a person can be. Why don't you post in ARK anymore, CAL? Did the kids there not play nice with you? |

Sorry for the delayed reply but work welcomed me back by rostering me 10 shifts in a row, so I've been a little busy... that and catching up with friends, etc. I'll be taking the photos to the butcher next week, so fingers crossed he'll be able to come up to scratch with some decent looking ribs. I want to finally try a brisket too, but I'm holding off on that until I have the beans recipe [I'm not trying to rush you though - I'm just keen to make a batch ] I'll keep you posted on how the ribs go. -- Pete. * I also accidentally sent the above to your yahoo A/C yesterday - clicked the wrong 'Reply' button* |
