At lunch today I had a mediocre sandwich for $7,29 (including fries) and my
wife had the $7.49 burger. Eating out is not cheap any more. Unless you
like the $1 menu at the salt and fat places, Famous Dave's is about the
going rate.

Never been to one but cannot comment on the quality, but it is supposed to
be OK for a chain. If they cook over real wood at least for flavor and slow
cook, that is not a bad price. Making bbq is very labor intensive compared
to a ham sandwich.

I have been to a Famous Daves a few times. Their corporate headquarters
are located here. I won't call them bad Q, but my last rack of ribs
from Famous Dave's was my last rack of ribs from Famous Dave's. I still
get there pulled pork sandwich occassionally.

You do get sides for your $8 sandwich. Yes, you can spend a few dollars
more on a whole shoulder and spend $4-$5 on lump to cook it. Plus spend
an afternoon near the cooker. You can spend $1 dollar for a Quarter
pounder to make at home. Does that stop you from buying one already
made? Probably sometimes yes and sometimes no.

A good bbq restuarant does not expect you to eat there every day. A
good bbq place is a treat, rather than an everyday or every week
purchase. It's a place to eat and relax, rather than eat and run.
Sometimes, you have to pay for that.

I thought Famous Daves was pretty good until five days ago. Then I was
in Houston and had the pleasure of visiting Pappas BBQ. Texas BBQ in Texas.
Authentic.
