Default Babecue a success!

Well I had my first BBQ on my new fire pit. Pit is roughly 5' x 7' and
about 2' deep, lined with field stone. We used a large custom built
stainless steel spit and did up 2 large steamship rounds (about 60 Lbs
each) that I dry rubbed about 4 hours before cooking. I got a good
coal base started with wood and when it burned down slow cooked for 8
hours using hardwood charcoal. Some of the best darn beef I've ever
had!! Pictures to follow as soon as they are processed. Served approx
130 people with plenty of leftovers.

Here we go!
#2 - the spit set-up, the end supports swivel both horizontally and
the spit itself rides inside of plates with ball bearings that swivel
vertically
#3 - putting the spit in place
#4 - making the final setup
#5 - everything looks good
#6 - end view, looking good!
#7 - YUMMY!

It sounds like you really had fun and made a lot of people happy. I'm
hoping you remembered, in your obvious enthusiasm and excitement, to post
the pics over on alt.binaries.food and not here. I'll know in a moment.

Don't worry. If ya screwed up and posted 'em here, nobody's gonna hunt ya
down and shoot ya, although there might be some friendly sniping. Even some
of the old-timers occasionally forget where they are (not just NGwise)!

There you go. Only 4 of nine came through so they cannot be combined and
decoded, and , this is the wrong place anyway. use the binaries group. And
post simple jpg files that anyone can easily see.

Even better, get some free webspace, put the pics there, and post the
URL here.

Everybody else has already metioned not to post pic's in this group,
it's text only. But there is a place where some of the crew here goes
to post pic's of BBQ and other dishes that you may want to share.

alt.binaries.food

But:
1. try to post jpegs, most digital cameras have a setting for the
size. My Cannon uses the "Small-Fine" setting and I resize the height
& width to keep the bandwidth down using PhotoShop Elements.

Welcome to the group. Happy Q'ing.
