Default Bigger propane tank?

Hi,

I am finnishing my outdoor kitcken and would like to find something in
the 10 gallon range for LP gas. Does such a tank exist? Is so, where?

Thanks!

Standard tanks are 20 pound. Some RV's have larger tanks, 40 pounds IIRC.
I just recently read that it is against some code to use more than a 20
pound tank on a free standing grill but if you have a built in, that would
not apply. You can pipe in a larger (100 pounds or more) but it has to be
hard piped and lagged to the ground.

I've seen 100 pound tanks, but that is too much for me to haul off to be
filled. Check with a propane dealer and they may be able to set you up with
a good sized tank and delivery.

In any case, with smaller thanks keep a spare on hand as no matter what size
you use, it will run out in the middle of dinner.

Your subject line says "Bigger propane tank?" but you ask about a 10
gallon tank.

Propane is usually rated in pounds not gallons and IIRC, 20# is the
standard size.

Here's an interesting link that I found when I put "propane tank"
(including the quotation marks) in the googls search window:

http://www.ohiobarns.com/othersites/...stictanks.html

They aren't all propane, but I'd suspect that you might find something
larger.

In reality, you should call your local propane distributer, since when
you get much larger than the standard tank, getting it refilled will
be a major chore, and delivery would usually not cost much (if any)
more. and is a whole lot easier.

Sorry,

I still think of my tanks in gallon terms. If the standard is 20
pounds, then about 40 would be my limit, as I will have to lug it in to
get filled. There is no propane delivery around here, and for
aesthetic reasons I want to keep the tank inside the cabinet of my
outdoor kitchen (yes is is sufficienly away and insulated from heat for
safety).

Thanks.

If you do a Google search for propane tanks, you''ll find sizes in 20lb,
30lb, and 40lb.

I had 30's on my travel trailer and kept them when I sold it 'cause they
were brand new. It may be against code but they work just fine on the
Weber. Been using them for 6 years now with no problem.

That would be a 40# tank - like a forklift would use. They are taller
so you have to take that into consideration.
