If you see a picture of slaves cooking whole hogs, then they were
cooking for the disgusting slave owner.

But if the picture has them cooking off-all, or what at the time was
considered not good enough for the slave owner. Such as ribs, hocks or
chitlins, then they were cooking for themselves.

By the way, if anyone has the time, I suggest seeing the movie called,
The Butler.
