Default Tinfoil on bottom of NB Silver for ash cleanup?

Is it ok to put some foil under the fire grates in a NB Silver (or
CharBroil Silver) to help with disposing of the leftover ash?

Jesse-

I do the same as Brick. Garden trowel works well. The steel of the fire box
doesn't care about the ash as long as you don't leave it in there.
Sometimes I also use a shopvac for the smaller bits. The ash falls through
the fire grates anyways.

Rob (cleans the firebox when it's cooled )

Thanks. I was thinking of lining the bottom of the firebox/cooking
chamber to make it an easy step. Wasnt sure how tough i was to scoop
out. What about fat deposits, do those come off when scraping for the
ashes, or do you just burn them off. Speaking of which I need to
clean mine right now.

Jesse-

I dunno where/how you are cooking but, when I cook the only fat "deposits" I
clean up are in the *cooking chamber*. Sometimes I don't clean those up till
there's a lot. Most of your fat should drain out (in an off set type pit).

Rob,

I've been grilling in the cooking area (WSM does smoking duties for now).
So my ashes and deposits are in that area.

Yep...but use the extra heavy duty and double or triple the layers. Less
than that and yer just spinnin' yer wheels.

Thanks for the heads up. I do use the heavy duty but didn't think of
the extra layers.
